No surprise. Americans choked, just like always.

USA...USA.................YOU..OOH..LOST...YOU ..OOH..LOST!

Jerks shouting 'Get in the hole!' after every shot. Wankers.

Best team won. Brilliant.

American choke job!
Can't hit off the tee.

Blew an eight point lead.

I blame Obama.

No real way to sugar coat or justify this. The USA just crapped their pants. Funny thing is that you had a feeling it might happen. The Euros have long been better in this team format.

The USA will win it again. But this loss will sting for a while.

I blame the State Trooper that gave Mcilroy the escort to the match. FIB.

The Euros are better in the team format. So for the Americans to choke in the individual competition made even worse. The US typically does well on Sunday because American golfers are notoriously selfish players that are out for themselves.

I guess I was getting at the fact the the Ryder Cup as a whole is a team format (team vs. team). The Euros seem to take a sense of pride in battling for country and bragging rights. The USA not so much.

All about Seve for the Europeans. Poulter kept it going on Saturday and they just went for it the next day with the hope that USA would drop a few. Even with 3 final games to finish I still thought that USA would win but when Furyk took an age then missed his put, it was on. Luckily Kaymer had the intestinal fortitude to sink his put when it really mattered. All square really after the humiliation in 1999. Always loved this tournament and all credit to the organisers for making it what it is today.

There's this weird American predilection for far too often dismissing victors in the process of putting all the weight of a late comeback on the losers choking. That's part of it, sure, but half of you guys are dismissing some brilliant, gutsy golf by the Europeans.

No. The team featuring the world #1, four of the top five, and something like 8 guys with winning Ryder cup records did not choke. They won.

The Euros played great, like they usually do. I think this English sportswriter summed it up well:
Nothing should be taken away from these Europeans, who held firm and produced a superb and stirring revival. But this was a result that would not have been possible if the Americans had not seen their nerves desert them at the worst possible time, setting an epic and historic collapse into motion.

I agree with this, but if you are rooting for the side that ends up losing, talking about a "choke" is much more interesting than saying "those Euros sure were gutsy".

They played great on our turf. The pressure had to be immense and they sacked up.

It's basically a sort of passive-aggressive poor-sportsmanship.
