Complete College Bowl Schedule

We definitely have far too many bowl games and there is way too much bullshit politics involved in selecting the teams and the match-ups. What the fuck is Wisconsin doing in the goddamn Rose Bowl? Is the Big 10 that lame? Then fuck 'em. They shouldn't go to a BCS bowl if all they can offer is a 5 loss team. Why are teams with losing records and break-even records going to post-season play? LOL @ Northern Illinois in the Orange bowl!

What a joke. It may not solve all the problems but I sure hope a playoff system will help this.

Northern Illinois only loss...to a 4-8 Iowa team. They're going to get killed by Florida State. Vegas can't set that line high enough.

N. Illinois has no business being in the BCS.

OU Sooners two losses are to top 5 teams. Do those losses mean the Sooners are not as good as a team like N. Illinois?
The rules are a joke.
The systems is a joke.
The NCAA is a joke!

The NCAA makes Don King, the NBA and the WWE look legit.

March Madness is awesome because the small school gets a chance and proves everyone wrong

N Illinois will take down Florida State

seems most thought Boise State was a joke took down Oklahoma

its going to be awesome when it goes to the final 4 of college football, small schools will get a chance and do well

I see the road you're traveling on, but there are differences between
Boise St and this years N. Illinois team.

Hardly anybody outside of Illinois knew about this team until about 2 weeks ago.
Boise St and other cinderella teams were in the media for months. Giving plenty of hype for the team leading up to bowl season.

whats the setup for playoffs

top 8 go to bowls: with 6 major conferences, 2 small conferences go.

you don't think teams like San Diego State won't bring excitement to playoffs for bowl games

I agree 100%, but unfortunately since the Big 10 is a "power conference" (I snicker everytime I read or hear that), the BCS is contractually bound ($$$$$) to give the Big 10 a spot in the Rose Bowl. With both Ohio State (undefeated) and Penn State (8-4) bowl ineligible, the invite sinks down to Wisconsin.

And what about Nebraska? They came into the Big 10 championship game with a deceiving record of 10-2 and was pistolwhipped by Wisconsin. Now they'll play in the Capitol One Bowl on Jan. 1st, and get sodomized by Georgia. I mean, if Wisconsin can hang 70 on the Cornhuskers, can you imagine what Georgia will do?

Except for 2 or 3 teams, the Big 10 is "all hat and no cattle". The NCAA should have let it die when it had the chance a few years ago.

I love the bowl games with a legendary tradition that dates back Knute Rockne and leather helmets... such as the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl.

Yeah, corporate sponsorship is taking over everything. Hell, I remember the Poulan Weedeater Independence Bowl!

Also, college football rewarding 6-5 and 6-6 teams with a bowl is like elementary schools sporting events giving a ribbon/medal/trophy to all the kids that participated instead of just the team that won.

Try Georgia Tech. 6-7 and playing in the Sun Bowl. Fucking SEVEN losses. Pathetic.

Holy shit...didn't know that. A team with a fucking losing record is rewarded with a bowl. Judas fucking priest!

I can remember when the Sun Bowl used to be a pretty good lower-level bowl (key words used to be)...along with the Peach Bowl and a few others.

Smaller bowls are indeed a big deal for the smaller schools. I've known kids at MAC schools and for them a trip to a place such as Boise or Birmingham is indeed something special. I don't think we have too many bowls. Don't like the match up? Don't watch the game.

Well get yourself a big gutful of it this year junior. When the playoff system takes hold I think it will rightfully make these fucking things like "The Massengill Bowl" and "The Pepto Bismal Bowl" obsolete or damn near it. Here's fucking hoping anyway.

Nah, those bowls will still be around. If these bowls didn't make money, they wouldn't exist. Where it gets dicey for smaller schools is the school actually making money. A friend of mine was on Ohio University's staff when they went to the GMAC Bowl about six years ago. By the time OU paid off their own expenses it was a net loss. Again, it's worth it for the exposure for the programs. Particularly for the recruiting aspect. Also, it gives the kids a chance to "go bowling." Everyone knows that a Sunbelt, C-USA, the MAC, etc., to ever win the playoff so these bowls will continue.

I understand your sentiment, EF, I really do. I think the smaller bowls appeal to two sets: die hard football people (former players, coaches, etc.) and alumni. Honestly, I wouldn't be interested in the Independence Bowl if OU wasn't going but as it stands I'll be making the trip to Shreveport with the Green and White Club for the game. I also fit in that first group though as I have been involved with high school football for several years.
Not every high school student athlete is going to get accepted at a SEC or Big Ten program. That doesn't mean they are talented enough for college football. A trip to a bowl is a great reward for a good season and a bowl victory is a major tool in the recruiting game. The only thing I would tweak is the 6-6 record. 7-5 would be concession.
