I'll mark your words. Especially since the Astros are out of the division.

1 - 0 baby!!!.....even with Marmol trying to give the game away again.

Only 62 more wins necessary to guarantee less than 100 losses.

If they could get ( and stay ) healthy I think the Padres would be a lot better than their record indicates. Not over SF or the neo-MFY Dodgers, but surprisingly good. They should be better than the Cubs though.

The Marlins? I ain't got nothing for ya man. I don't think anyone knows what the fuck is going through Loria's mind. I can say this though, I think Nolasco will be traded.

My Orioles are 1-0, while the Yankees are 0-1.

I'm thinking undefeated. Of course I know virtually nothing about baseball and just jumped back on the Os bandwagon after 15 awful years.

Still, the Yankees are gonna be terrible this year. Really, really bad. This entire city is in denial about that.

Red Sox and Yanks are predicted by many to be battling it out for last place in the A.L. East. That would make this season interesting at least.

People around here think - rightfully so really - that they have a god-given right to the playoffs. There are 16-year olds who don't remember them missing the playoffs.

But reality is gonna hit them hard. This team is ancient and will fade badly toward the end of the summer. I really think they are gonna suck absolute ass this season.

As a Redskins fan, I know old, expensive, and tired when I see it.

I see it. A friend of mine was saying "Just wait till Jeter gets back." He's older than ME.

They are gonna suck for a while. I'll say 4 or 5 years, when they finally shed A-rod's disastrous contract.

They are old with some ridiculous contracts and I don't know how their farm system is, but they still have more money than Midas with their TV deal. They could buy their way back into contention again. I hope not though. Some fiscal responsibility out of NY would be a lot better for the MLB long term.

They're going to need solid pitching because their lineup sucks balls.

Fujikawa certainly didn't help giving up 3 runs in the eighth to put Atlanta one run under.

True. Their closer situation is pretty dire.

I'm talking about the Upton homer off Marmol that put the cherry on top of the retard Sundae.

Oh well. It's opening day.

WTF :!: :!:

Chicago Cubs prospect Jorge Soler was ejected from his Class A team's game Wednesday night after approaching the opposing team's dugout wielding a bat following an earlier confrontation on the field.

According to the Daytona Beach News Journal, Soler -- the 21-year-old Cuban whom the Cubs signed to a nine-year, $30 million deal last year -- slid into second base during the seventh inning of the Florida State League game and had words with an opposing player for the Clearwater Threshers in Daytona Beach, Fla.

Players from both the Threshers and Soler's Daytona Cubs came out to separate the two, and the sides returned to their dugouts. But according to the News Journal, the 6-foot-4, 215-pound Soler sprinted back out -- with bat in hand -- toward the Threshers' side.

Soler was caught by Cubs teammates before he made it to the opposing dugout and never swung the bat, according to the News Journal.

The incident still gave a brief scare to the Threshers.

Those few seconds were "kind of like a nightmare," Daytona manager Dave Keller told the newspaper.

Soler was ejected after the incident. No other discipline was immediately announced.

"I think that he was frustrated by some things and there was some emotional things he was fighting with," Keller told the News Journal after his team's 14-9 extra-inning win. "Why he did that, I don't know. I think he was frustrated by what happened. When he slid into second base, (Carlos Alonso) ended up laying on top of him. He was laying on him so (Soler) pushed with his arm to get him off him, and I think the second baseman interpreted that the wrong way like he wanted to fight or something."

Keller told the newspaper that the teams exchanged words and that Soler was upset about what was said to him.

It's gonna be a long season Chicago. If you thought Marmol's implosion or Fujikawa's unpredictability was stress inducing in the later innings. Clevenger was placed on the 60 day DL to replace him Kameron Loe was picked up off waivers. Ouch.

Watching Loe pitch is a lot like watching Sammy Sosa in 2001 take batting practice. Middle of the plate...HR! Middle of the plate....HR! You'll be amazed at how far the ball is hit.

That sucks because lately it's been the BP that blew the game, they put up a hell of a fight against the Giants.
