Holy fucking fuck was that incredible or what WT?!

Great day of college football. The Buckeye's win over Michigan earlier was amazing as well.

I hope it's Ohio State and Florida State in the National Title Game. Use some sorcery and make it happen PLEASE!

What a great fucking game that was down on the Plains! Got to give Auburn and Gus credit...they played Tide football against the Crimson Tide...they never lost focus and played a full 60 minute game. I dont agree with Sabans final call...if you get that 1 second back, go ahead and shoot a downfield pass for the end zone, if you get great, if not, then its on to OT and you let your systems work. No way in hell would you go for a 57yard FG with your Freshman back-up...not a smart calll in my mind...

That's really kind of the most pathetic thing about it. The fucking clock ticked down to zero right as the guy's foot touched the ground. But they managed to get a still frame of his toe on the ground with 0:01 showing. I've seen tons of games where if the clock ticks down to zero, that's it. The game's over. But leave it to Saban and the refs who all want to suck Saban's cock to keep him from throwing a tantrum and lo and behold, he gets another FULL second back on the clock when in reality it was like 1/100th of a second and it wasn't really worthy of giving them another chance at it. (All this hair-splitting over instant replays is getting fucking annoying. The clock ran out. Suck it up and play the overtime already.)

So the sweetest part of the whole thing is that Saban and the Tide's entire season got flushed down the shitter by 1/100th of a second!

Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

While I loved the result, the right call was made. The fault here is other instances where the ball went out before the clock hit zero and the game was called done, not what happened in this game IMO.

As for them getting a whole second back, rather than just a fraction of one - what actual difference does that make? It's time to commence one play regardless.

Okay, fuck you for making me type all this shit out but here goes…

The issue is really the problem of judging one play differently from the rest of the plays in the game. On a standard play, if a runner goes out of bounds there is a lag where the foot hits the ground, the ref signals the clock operator and the operator hits the button. All that NEVER happens in 1/100th of a second. And all that did not happen in 1/100th of a second on the play in question. So if the clock is operated the same on the play in question as the rest of the plays of the game, regulation play time did indeed expire.

So the "fault" as you say, is nothing but the standard way the clock is run throughout the game. In ANY game. Saban and the officials really had no right to treat that play differently and give Alabama a crack at a game winning field goal.

I can't complain about how it ended up though. Karma's a bitch.

UtahRatt has been railing about how the game is so different now than it used to be and how it's a downgrade, and for the most part I agree with him. The whole thing these days of letting the replay dictate every little fucking thing and the hair-splitting that comes from that is making the game more tedious and less fun to watch. And I think that there are definitely instances like this where the replay just doesn't tell the whole story. And then it comes down to who bitches most (Saban) and that is really not the aspect that a game should be decided on.

I agree with this as well, and Im a Bama fan through and through. I was actually hoping that the damn replay would have forced the Over Time call...I saw no real measureable reason to want that 1 second back unless to throw a Hail Mary downfield...never in a fucking million years would I have guessed that Saban would make the call to go for a 57yd FG!

Replay is getting used far too much now a days, and it will only do more harm than good if it keeps progressing in the direction its now headed IMO...
