Berating and humiliating teamates his whole career with the Bulls and Wizards. Nobody was up to his level other than maybe Pippen and Rodman.

Because he was one of the baddest dudes on the planet of all time in the history of the game.
I think it takes a bit of arrogance, cockiness, attitude or being an asshole to do so.
At one time it was just one or two great players, anymore it's every punk bitch who walks on the court/field.
Not to mention Jordan really is such an asshole reff's would give his free fouls. When Jordan takes a shit you can hear angels playing harps.
Seriously, when you have thousands starving children making your shoes for .10 cents a day and happy to do so....You'd be an asshole as well.
