Any Love For The College Game?

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

College football is my favorite game across the board...any sports. Surprised it doesn't get any love here.

I'm surprised how popular the game is. Between the conference hopping, the huge coach and TV contracts it become much more about the almighty dollar than ameteur athletics. It's kind of amazing how fast it changed. Just call it what it is. Pro football lite.

It's preferred.

Is it a corrupt, underhanded, devious, scheming, moneymaking enterprise spurred on by the NCAA and the university presidents?

Damn right it is, but you still can't beat the excitement, the pageantry, the stadiums packed with hundreds of thousands of fans, the "any given Saturday" upsets (eg. App. St. over Michigan), the long standing traditions, the bitter rivalries, and everything else that goes along with it.

There's nothing better than a full Saturday slate of games and everything that goes along with it.

lord no. Couldn't give two fucks.

Why is a player considered tackled when he falls down?

Why are the 600 bowls?

Why aren't they paying these poor kids (and save me the free education bullshit, nobody gives a fuck about that and it ain't why they are there)

Why does it suck so much ass?

What's not to like? It's football. The more the better.

This I agree with. Not really interested in who wins the 2014 Lime-A-Way Toilet Bowl this year.

Life long Husker but I will say this. I'm concerned about the money talk.

Money has all but destroyed the NFL and other sports.

And it's going to fuck up college one day.
Players get a free fucking ride, pampered all the way, all the bitches, tutors, bad things swept under the rug, get away with most anything including a scholarship millions would die for.....And they want money, they want to be paid to go to school because they run fast when they're not in school to learn in the first place.

Fuck um.

That money should be put back into the school to help make it affordable. The school gave these players a chance and the benefit should be to better the entire school not just someone who can run fast and don't give a shit about college and can't wait to get out.

I kind of agree with that. I see something inherently wrong with the schools making money off of a player's name and likeness though (IE: jersey sales) while the player is forbidden to do so.

It's big here in the South, but I don't pay much attention to it. I grew up in NY, where pro sports were more important. And my college (UNC-Charlotte) didn't even have a football team until last year. :|

None at all.
I do not watch a second of football, basketball, or baseball.
I wait until they reach the pros until I have an interest.

I wonder how much that plays into it. Being from Kentucky, I'm a huge SEC fan and you know what SEC football is!

Let's not forget about the coaching staff who allowed a kid
with a concussion to enter the game.
WTF!!!

Coaches could care less about their "student/athletes". That situation up in Michigan is exhibit A

I played no part in that game. Just wanted to let it be known. It's better then losing to BYU if the glass is half full.

FSU grad here and huge fan since the 80s... I love college football!

It's pretty much the only reason I even turn the tv on.

Thank you very much for beating the Irish last night.
It got scary at the end of the game.
That pick penalty that took the TD away and moved them back to the 18 was a lifesaver.

Tell me about it... It was a blatant, obvious call... but ND ran that play in the first half and didn't get called on it so I was a little surprised. I couldn't believe they converted that 4th and 18 either!

I'll watch the Longhorns baseball sometimes, but other than that not really. Sometimes I'll watch a football game if it's a friend's school's team, but I could usually care less.

Fun Kill fact: When I was a little kid the first baseball game I saw/attended was the Texas Longhorns. Roger Clemens was pitching.

College football has just basically turned into minor league football. It isn't about the schools anymore

As an Irish Carholic the whole fam was disappointed. So we drank two bottles of whiskey and spoke of good times.

They made us proud last night.

FSU is a good ball club.

Wrong :!:
The Notre Dame WR lowered his shoulder and drove the DB across the goaline. The WR never made an attempt to run a pass route.
That is offensive Pass Interference. Very easy call for the ref to make.

I LIVE for College Football on Saturdays...I dont give a flying fuck about any Pro sports at all, Baseball, Football or Basketball.

I am a Crimson Tide fan through and through...I was a fan when Bear led the team, when Stallings led them and even Francionne and Shula...and was skeptical when Saban was hired and a might bit confused when Saban hired Lane Kiffin...but I will always be a fan regardless of their win/loss ratio.

I am also an SEC fan first, but I do watch other teams and Conferences...never know what game will turn into an "Instant Classic"...last Saturday's FSU-Notre Dame game for example.

My early-mid season prediction for the FBS Playoff is:
Miss State/Ole Miss
Florida State
Alabama
Michigan State/Notre Dame

The above is contingent on Alabama beating Miss State Nov 15th...and after last Saturdays rout of TAMU, it could happen, as well as the annual Iron Bowl against Auburn. Auburn had a "magical" (lucky) season last year, and I dont see them playing as well as they could be at this point. This means Alabama has to win the SEC Championship...meaning they face off against Georgia...

I believe Miss State will win over Ole Miss later, and will likely be the top ranked 2 loss team by the end of the season, thereby getting a berth. I think Ole Miss will be considered but passed due to the quality of their wins vs the quality of the opponents played, Alabama being #1 at the the time Ole Miss beat them may swing enough votes...a win over Miss State will seal the deal though. Miss State cant disregard Arkansas either as Pelini has a squad that is on the cusp of getting it all together...that 1 point Bama game was a taste of whats to come from the Razorbacks Im afraid...

FSU is likely to win out as their schedule is pretty weak from here on out.

Michigan State, while playing well, could lose to either Michigan or Ohio State, and in Ohio States case, they would take the Spartans slot.

And, the best thing about College Football is that on any given Saturday, ANY team can, and will get beat...

You could say the same thing about the NFL Sundays.

While I'm a much bigger college fan, this is 100% true. In all honesty, I think it's more true with NFL. This season has provided several great examples already.
