Because the offense was designed to run through Noah and optimize his skills. You can't just plug a player like Rose into an offense like that and take off on a tear and into the playoffs. You have to redesign your sets and reconfigure your entire execution. Not an easy thing to do when you're jockeying for a better playoff spot at the last bit of the season.

I understand that the ultimate goal is to win a title. However you can't deny that guys like Barkley, Ewing, Malone, Stockton, and Reggie Miller are all time greats. They all played on amazing teams for a long time but they just ran into God in the playoffs and finals. It's kinda like looking at the NFL and saying Marino isn't an time great great because he never won a super bowl.

Rose is a puss, but the coach finally stopped coddling him and forced him to go out there, and since then, he has played regularly and done pretty good

Thibs didn't force Derrick to do anything. He became tired of turning on any radio station and hearing that he should be out there. There are FM easy listening DJs bitching about how soft he is.
