8-5 to start the season, with all these young kids.....very nice start. I think Theo's plan starting to take shape.

Do I expect a playoff spot this year? No, not necessarily, but they should be contending at the very least.

Do I expect them to be a consistent playoff/world series contender over the next 5-7 years? With all this young talent....yes, I do.

I've been a Cubs fan my entire life, and in that time span they've only won one playoff series. I am practically salivating at the thought of the team they've put together. They have a bright future.

Geez. A bright future huh? Like hovering around .500? Can you set the goals any lower. When was the last time this team had a bright future? Maybe 10 or 11 years ago. Then Bartman showed up and put a stop to that.

Like I wrote earlier, put together two consecutive winnings seasons and maybe baseball fans will not laugh at the mention of Cubs

I agree that the bullpen is suspect, and its gonna be an Achilles' heel all season.....but I'm thinking more about next year and beyond for this team. Hopefully Theo can get those bullpen holes plugged up starting next season, or possibly the trade deadline this year.

I'm more concerned about Lester's inability to throw over to 1B. What's up with that crap? If/when the Cubs get into the playoffs, his inability to keep runners close could cost the Cubs a game or two in a post season series. He needs to get that crap straightened out before he becomes the next Billy Goat/Bartman.

I'm also worried about the bullpen, but I trust Theo. He'll make some changes this year, and in the off season to get that right. He wants this, bad. If he can go down in history as the GM that got the Red Sox AND Cubs championships, his legacy is cemented forever.

Plus the season is so young, I'm not worried. I don't expect a championship run this year, but I think they're lined up to be monsters in the coming years.

They've only won one playoff series in my lifetime. I'm chomping at the bit for more.

Cubs would have won last night's game is 9 innings if Lester could actually hold runners on base.....I'm telling you, if this guy doesn't fix this problem, its gonna cost the Cubs a playoff series sometime down the road.

I have baseballs autographed by Mark Grace, Kerry Wood, and Ernie Banks. I traded an autographed Reggie Jackson baseball for the Mark Grace and Kerry Wood balls, but I think I made a good deal. They are all MLB authenticated as well. Mark Grace was a hero of mine, and I must admit I was kinda bummed when he got caught drunk driving because for some reason I thought he was a flawless person. I am aware this post has nothing to do with any current Cubs, or the current season, but it's the only thread where I could ever possibly humblebrag about such a thing. I also have a jersey framed in my office.

I used to collect baseball cards as well, but that bubble burst long before I could get on board, so I ended up getting rid of everything as a teen.

The Cubs don't suck this year, yet. It is still a long season. I would be happy for them to finally have a good year, but I don't think they don't have the pitching to last the season.

5 game win streak.....20-15 overall. Not bad for these youngsters, especially with their crappy bullpen.

BTW, if the season ended today, the Cubs would get the 1st Wild Card spot.
