Eric Davis VS. Darryl Strawberry: Who would've had the better career?
Drugs and alcohol derailed Strawberry. And frequent injuries derailed Davis. I always wondered who would've put up better numbers..if they had both played consistently for 15 or 20 years.

Strawberry hands down. Davis was talented but not as much as Strawberry.

Strawberry was an AllStar with 99 RBI's as a Dodger after almost 10 seasons of battering drug use, he even looked beat up but still made the game look easy. I vividly remember watching him that year hoping he'd break 100 the last game or two....It was almost sad to see the wear and tear his Met years had on him.
Was it him or the Doc who said when they was a Rookie on the plane a player said....."Hey go back to the bathroom Rook, there's something there for ya!" And it was a bunch of Railers lined up on the counter.....And so it began.

Easily Darryl Strawberry assuming he didn't abuse his body.
A better match up might be Ken Griffey Jr. vs Strawberry (again assuming he didn't abuse his health.)

Eric Davis was twice the player that Darryl Strawberry was. If you judge careers based strictly on home runs, fine. Chicks dig the long ball, I guess Strawberry was better. But if you played baseball growing up, Davis was by far and away the better player, a five tool player. Power, Batting Average, Speed, Throwing Arm, Fielding. Strawberry had power. That's it. Davis' career was hindered by injuries from playing hard at all times, Strawberry's career was hindered by stupidity and selfishness. Both careers suffered from each recovering from colon cancer late in their careers.
5,418 AB - 898 R - 1,401 H - .259 BA - 335 HR - 1000 RBI - 221 SB - Strawberry
5,321 AB - 938 R - 1,430 H - .269 BA - 282 HR - 934 RBI - 349 SB - Davis
In 97 less ABs Davis scored 40 more runs, had 29 more hits and 128 more stolen bases. He only trails RBI by 66 and Homers by 53. Davis also won three Gold Gloves and Strawberry killed grass at Shea stadium by standing in the same spot in RF at all times, thus dubbed by Mets fans as "The Strawberry Patch".
