I first started reading Flowers in the Attic back in '82 when I was 13 , I was hooked!
Gave up after the Dawn series ( that's when Andrew Neiderman took over ghost writing )

Those books were porn for tweens! V. C. actually died before she finished the Heaven series. After that the books followed a similar formula. Displaced beautiful girl, abusive guardian, someone ends up in a wheelchair, and some form of incest.
