An excellent review. It is gratifying to know that other people can see through the undeserved praise of Reznor/Ross's work. To be given an academy award for their first effort when highly lauded composers waited years to receive any type of accolades is outrageous. To be in the company of artists like Hans Zimmer and John Williams, composers that have attended Julliard and spent years perfecting their craft, is an outrage. They ARE novices, way out of their league. It makes you wonder who is buying their awards for them.

[quote="enchantment"]"What betrays their motives more than anything else is the ridiculous barrage of marketing employed in the numerous releases of this music on album. They think so highly of themselves that they give away a sampler of music through their website and publish three-hour CD, vinyl, and high fidelity digital releases, the largest package of which a hefty $300 on their website, and then literally challenge listeners to sit through it all. What film composer would have an ego so large as to exercise that kind of arrogance? Many of them have egos, granted, but the manufactured phenomenon surrounding this Reznor and Ross "event" detracts from the entire soundtrack industry by making it into a circus. Everyone involved in this production is to blame for such a commercial disgrace, including Fincher, whose application of the music in the film isn't even that effective. "

TRez was nominated for a Globe and according to this article is going and working on new NIN (but only after HTDA 'cause releasing the full length album is a priority  ).

"Meanwhile, he's got his tuxedo cleaned and pressed for the upcoming round of awards shows. Though he's "never been one for trophies and recognition," Reznor says he did enjoy taking home a Golden Globe and Academy Award for "The Social Network" score last year. "When it comes from a place that feels legitimate, that makes a difference," he explains. "What happened last year was unexpected and it was flattering, and I've allowed myself to feel pretty good about it. Going to those kind of events, with the camaraderie of this team of people that made this film that you all believe in...was fun."

Thanks for the Filmtracks link. Nice to see I'm not the only score nerd out there.

He's really milking it.

When will he learn to keep his mouth shut? Why did he have to suggest that all other directors are idiots, and Fincher is like, the awesomest diwectah evah? I'm a fan, but come on.

Way to shit on your own lawn, Reznor. In the last 20 years, he's truly made it into an art.

Anyway - I'm beginning to suspect Fincher and Rez made their agreement in sex club and not an office.

I Totally Agree with the FilmTracks review. NOW will the rest of Hollywierd agree with this person? Honestly I think the whole film composer's community feels the same way. They are two novices who got lucky being the new thing.
I myself will save my commentary and nasty picture posts till after the Golden Globs- Opps! Globes .
I hope Rossnor enjoy the shiny awards on their mantels. It sounds like the last they will get!

Hey Grendal, Where are you? Not showing much Rez love lately! :D

I have question ?

We all agree Reznor/Ross were bought the Globe and Oscar.

Is it really an award? Who can name the composer/composer's who won in 2000 for Soundtrack without looking it up?
He is truly a Has Been, no one will care in 2 years. He truly DONE. I don't want to see his 46 year old Fat Ass performing on stage, ANYMORE !!. The End!

LOL! Sadly, you know that's probably going to happen in future. Maybe he'll really try to outdo himself and do a remake of 'Titanic'....or 'Gone With The Wind' (where of course Queefers will star as Scarlet. "Gawd as my witness I shall never go hungry again!")

ugh.

Yeah, you'd have to be insane to think Trent Reznor is more sexually attractive than someone who is actually sexually attractive, like Chris Cornell. 8)

Mmmhmm.

He's gettin' chubby. I thought only the woman's supposed to gain baby weight.

Note to Trent: Stop doing the bizarre Jersey Shore duck lip thing. Of all the retarded things he could adopt, he starts doing that. Obviously GTL required too much effort.

Ba ha.

did he go to the same shoe maker as Tom Cruise?

Also, they didn't win. So much for being the "IT" musical boy.

Trent didn't win for his soundtrack at the Golden Globes. Hooray.
Trent looks ridiculous in that picture wearing high heels and the tight fitting black shirt that shows how pudgy he is. Did Trent steal queef's hooker high heel boots out of the closet? I never realized how fat Trent has gotten. I guess he was acutally referring to himself as an "unattractive plump female" in his metal sludge rant last year. If the shoe fits, wear it, right trent?
