Lump sat alone in a boggy marsh
Totally motionless except for her heart
Mud flowed up into Lump's pajamas
She totally confused all the passing piranhas
She's Lump, she's Lump
She's in my head
She's Lump, she's Lump, she's Lump
She might be dead
Lump lingered last in line for brains,
And the ones she got were sort of rotten and insane
Small thing's so sad that birds could land
Is Lump fast asleep or rockin' out with the band? She's Lump, she's Lump
She's in my head
She's Lump, she's Lump, she's Lump
She might be dead
Lump was limp and lonely and needed a shove
Lump slipped on a kiss and tumbled into love
She spent her twenties between the sheets
Life limped along at subsonic speeds
She's Lump, she's Lump
She's in my head
She's Lump, she's Lump, she's Lump
She might be dead
Is this Lump out of my head, I think so
Is this Lump out of my head, I think so, yeah

According to lead singer/guitarist Doug Fieger, he met a girl named Sharona (who was 17 at the time), and fell in love with her. Whenever he thought about her, he would think of Averre's riff. The two worked out the structure and melody from there. The girl who inspired the song is Sharona Alperin, now a real estate agent in Los Angeles, California.

Hey PO, very cool list. I remember an old version of this thread.
One small correction. Roland the Roadie is by Shel Silverstein. Dr Hook covered it, like they did so many of his songs, but he recorded it too.
Btw, I see you're following me on Twitter now. One of these days I'll be bored enough to post something else on there.

Thanks for the correction BTW. I do have the Shel Silverstein version and didn't even realize it. Shel wrote a lot of stuff for Dr. Hook which is probably why I love them!

Wow! Cool. They were a great Finnish rock band from the 70's, which were big here and in Sweden. Their guitarist Albert Järvinen was one the best Finnish guitarists ever and was asked to join some English name bands in the 70's. He recorded a single with Lemmy too. There was a movie made about them recently. You can google them, but I couldn't find a lot of them in English.PoisondOne wrote:Thank you so much! It's been a long time and I hope you remember when we used to post together on the "old" board. We're both in the same field now...

It was written for a groupie and meg assumed it was for her. He agreed for a quiet life.
He hates it as it bored the shit out of him having to play it at EVERY SINGLE FUCKING LIVE GIG.
