I think just about every White Trash song is about a groupie. However, Backstage Pass is definitely, 100% a groupie song as opposed to just about slutty girls.

Lump sat alone in a boggy marsh
Totally motionless except for her heart
Mud flowed up into Lump's pajamas
She totally confused all the passing piranhas

She's Lump, she's Lump
She's in my head
She's Lump, she's Lump, she's Lump
She might be dead

Lump lingered last in line for brains,
And the ones she got were sort of rotten and insane
Small thing's so sad that birds could land
Is Lump fast asleep or rockin' out with the band? She's Lump, she's Lump
She's in my head
She's Lump, she's Lump, she's Lump
She might be dead

Lump was limp and lonely and needed a shove
Lump slipped on a kiss and tumbled into love
She spent her twenties between the sheets
Life limped along at subsonic speeds

She's Lump, she's Lump
She's in my head
She's Lump, she's Lump, she's Lump
She might be dead

Is this Lump out of my head, I think so
Is this Lump out of my head, I think so, yeah
Is this Lump out of my head, I think so
Is this Lump out of my head...

According to lead singer/guitarist Doug Fieger, he met a girl named Sharona (who was 17 at the time), and fell in love with her. Whenever he thought about her, he would think of Averre's riff. The two worked out the structure and melody from there. The girl who inspired the song is Sharona Alperin, now a real estate agent in Los Angeles, California.

Thanks :)

This little obsession of mine was spurred back on the "old boards" and I found my partial list saved on an old computer...which made it come alive again.

I hope I'm not the only one who is enjoying it :)

Hey PO, very cool list. I remember an old version of this thread.

One small correction. Roland the Roadie is by Shel Silverstein. Dr Hook covered it, like they did so many of his songs, but he recorded it too.

Btw, I see you're following me on Twitter now. One of these days I'll be bored enough to post something else on there.

Haha...I just figured out who you are  That's funny...I had no clue as I just searched for people by email addy. Hope all is well with you!

Thanks for the correction BTW. I do have the Shel Silverstein version and didn't even realize it. Shel wrote a lot of stuff for Dr. Hook which is probably why I love them!

Thank you so much! I was not aware of this song or band, but after checking into them I just bought "Roadrunner" and can't wait for it to arrive! Not only a great addition to the list, but a new band in my collection! Thanks!

Wow! Cool. They were a great Finnish rock band from the 70's, which were big here and in Sweden. Their guitarist Albert Järvinen was one the best Finnish guitarists ever and was asked to join some English name bands in the 70's. He recorded a single with Lemmy too. There was a movie made about them recently. You can google them, but I couldn't find a lot of them in English.

Same as now :) We didn't interact much, but we were both members of another board that spawned from here as well. Most of those girls don't post here now (at least not under their old nyms) and I miss everyone a ton!
