Yep. HTDA cancelled their shows at the Voodoo Festival and the Mountain Oasis Festival. NIN is still performing at both.

Trent Reznor's How To Destroy Angels cancel autumn festival appearances
Read more at http://www.nme.com/news/nine-inch-nails ... OkzWPKR.99

How To Destroy Angels, the side project of Nine Inch Nails man Trent Reznor, have cancelled their only set shows for the coming months.

The band were due to play the Voodoo Experience festival in New Orleans as well as Mountain Oasis Electronic Music Summit in North Carolina, but now singer Mariqueen Maandig - who is married to Reznor - has said that due to 'production conflicts' the band will no longer play either event

Nine Inch Nails however, will still be playing both events. They start their North American arena tour on September 28 at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. At last month's Reading and Leeds Festivals, Reznor lashed out at both the event's promoters and Biffy Clyro by claiming they had both "fucked" the band on production. His comments were given short shrift by festival boss Melvin Benn, however, who said: "The truth is there's no truth in the statement. The contract hasn't changed since they signed up to it."

Of course the Rez took his complaints to Twitter.

4. Nine Inch Nails vs Reading/Leeds/Biffy Clyro

It seems Soundwave isn’t the only festival Nine Inch Nails frotnman Trent Reznor has some beef with. Following a short and sharp set on the first day of Leeds – which was heavy on new material (they played neither ‘Closer’ nor ‘Hurt’) and had a minimalist light and smoke show, Reznor took to Twitter to say the band had been “fucked on” by the promoters. Seemingly a little but miffed about being second-headliner to Biffy Clyro the singer tweeted, “Should be an unusual show tonight at Reading… the lying promoter and the band following us (whoever the fuck they are) fucked us on our production.” He even shared a little “to do” list reminding him to tell off promoters Festival Republic.

:?: Okay how big of a deal is it for a band to cancel out of a festival show in the entertainment biz? I know at the Voodoo Festival, HTDA was to be the final performer on the 2nd stage on the Voodoo Festival's final night. (The Cure is the closing act on the main stage.) For a new band, that seems like a really good spot to just quit.

The good news here is that those attending Voodoo this year won't be subjected to Mrs. Reznor's vanity project.

That would only leave Mr. Reznor's vanity project to endure. But one can leave early.

I've done that before.

Seriously. I can't imagine anything more tedious that sitting through a 60-90 minute performance of a nearly 50 year old man screaming, beating himself with a mike, breaking instruments & singing 20 year old songs about how fucking damaged he is. It was somewhat believable in a overdone theatric way when he....and we were younger. These days, you wonder why he just doesn't get some Prozac & shut the fuck up already. Who CARES about this bullshit anymore?

He can give 20 hour interviews explaining himself & his work all he wants. It doesn't make him relevant in 2013.

I don't expect the new album to alter that much. It didn't top the charts & if it didn't the first week when the faithful buy it, it won't. Stay tuned for the expected disappearing act on the charts the next few weeks.

As a matter of fact, I bet it doesn't go platinum.

Ah well.

I was wondering how long it would be before he started self-destructing again and then blamed it on NIN's dwindling fan base. BTW did Consequence of Sound used to be one of his biggest supporters?

I see that in a rare moment of lucidity, Trent hired Lisa Fischer to sing backup with him.

Why not the Mrs, you might ask?

Lisa Fischer is a killer singer. Massively talented. Powerful voice. Wide range. No hair flipping or posing. Not someone who needs the husband to perform heavy production gymnastics to make her sound like she can sing. Kinda sorta. Mariqueen couldn't carry Lisa Fischer's microphone on her best day.

I saw Lisa Fischer sing "Gimme Shelter" with the Stones. She was tremendous & that is not an easy song to do. Big shoes to fill from the original singer, Merry Clayton. She killed it.

The real question is why Lisa Fischer would agree to appear with Trent. Kind of a major step down from performing with the Rolling Stones & Tina Turner. IMHO

Then again, he's been saying all along he'd like to work with a female singer.

Now he finally has that chance.

Did Mariqueen drive all the fans away, alot of the venues didn't sell out to half capacity.. The Gospel singers were good.

Nah, NIN was never that popular. I remember seeing them in pre-adolescence, at Cow Palace. The place was, at most, half-full. When a person is fond of something, they are under the impression everyone else is, too, and that's just not true. Perhaps they were massive following The Downward Spiral, I don't know. I was too young then, but their show at Cow Palace was in support of The Fragile, and sales for that album were disappointing, or at least far from what critics and Trent were expecting. And for as gorgeous as a NIN shows is now, Trent's performance is lacking. His voice sounds off. His passion is no longer there. He moves around the stage as if there is something weighing him down. The show is gorgeous because it has to be, to compensate for actual performance. Bring in the lights and the women that can carry a tune, so that not a soul notices that Trent has been falling apart.

I saw NIN at the height of their popularity in the outskirts of Pittsburgh, PA. Trent made it a point to tell the audience-mid set-his feelings on the area he came from... (Not good feelings btw.) The venue had mostly lawn seating; but what I saw there from other shows, this wasn't a sell out at all. Not even close. It was a nice light show and all; but TOOL was better.

Last time during With Teeth and Year Zero Trent was selling out bigger venues twice the size with ease. True story

Get with the program, Mood Swing. Ass kissing is obligatory when communicating with either one of the Reznors. Those who forget this will be excommunicated.

As for why she takes so many selfies, I can explain that too.

She doesn't have anything else to do.

I think its utter bullshit when artists do this! I mean Trent has no class, and we all know that. But what kind of asshole goes to the city (or continent- didn't he complain about ALL of Europe?!) and complains to the people of that city about it? Talk about an insecure fucktard needing his ego pumped up because he now lives in El Lay.
That's right, I forgot about his tweets during the NIN/JA tour. Great way to be a gracious guest while traveling abroad.
