I thought it was awful. Could not get through it on the Showtime preview weekend a couple of weeks ago.Fletch wrote:Super (2011) - 7/10

Contraband 6/10. Predictable and lame dialogue. Decent action in a couple of spots.
Rented -
Warrior 8.5/10. Pretty good except I hated the ending and the whole AWOL thing. Never paid off.
Final Destination 5 - 6/10. A lot better than the last couple. Couple of inventive things. Liked the bridge collapse a lot.

Make sure to add 'Strangers on a Train' to that list.silent_eyes wrote:Thanks! I haven't seen any of those so I'll definitely look into them.Machado wrote:I wonder if Redbox has 12 Angry Men![]()
Due to your post I'm going to inquire at my local Library for the dvd.
I recommend:
Double Indemnity
Champion
In A Lonely Place
Rear Window
Roman Holiday

I recently interviewed a high school gymnast who suffered a season ending injury after a routine last year. I was actually tempted to ask if it was anything like what happened in Final Destination 5, but opted not to.Blumpkin King wrote:

Haven't seen this film for years, but it holds up really well. Gene Wilder is awesome. Great stuff.

Had higher expectations due to fanfare and was a bit let down.

Poor White Trash
7/10. Pretty much nailed Rural America. That, and I'm always a sucker for Black Comedy.
Shop Girl
9/10. I will go so far as to say its my favorite film of Steve Martin's.
Deadfall
5/10. Needed more crazy Nic Cage and less narration.
Mallrats
10/10. Best film Kevin Smith ever did.

I only watched this because a guy I know is in it and he gave me a copy. Now I have to tell him it kinda sucked. "But you were good in it! Really!"

Moneyball:
Very interesting story in this one that really happened. Totally amazed me how they made a spectacular baseball team with basically no budget. Then went on a 20 game winning streak which is unheard of.
50/50:
Joseph Gordon-Levitt is one of my favorite actors and he put on another great performance in this one. Good movie, but Seth Roger kinda got on my nerves.

Captain America is a far superior film to Thor.
Thor just drags on with very little action until the end, and isn't much like the comic.
The only good thing about it was The Destroyer.

Dream House:
During the first 20-25 minutes, I was thinking that this was going to be horrible. But surprisingly, it finally picked up and was actually pretty interesting. Was afraid that this was one of those cases where they gave away everything in the trailer but I was glad I was wrong.

I happened to find it while channel-surfing just after discussing it on a thread the other day. It's still a lot of fun.

The Enemy Below - 8/10. Robert Mitchum.
Robert Mitchum and Curt Jurgens are respectively captains of a U.S. destroyer and a German U-boat whose vessels come into conflict in the South Atlantic.

Drive - 10/10
Easily one of the best movies I've seen in a while. So far that and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo are my overwhelming favourites of the last year.
I adored the soundtrack of the movie as well. Great stuff and I highly recommend this film.

Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Is this normal behavior? My wife read all the twilight books in a week. Last night she borrowed the movies from the mom of one of the kids on our basketball team. She started watching them around 8:30 and finished all 3 movies by 10:30 this morning. She told me this morning that I'm her Edward. I told her she's my Luol Deng. I can't imagine being swept up in anything that quickly and completely. At least I don't have to put those things in the netflix queue. More movies with dick and fart jokes for me.
And Bridesmaids is still over rated.

What a steaming pile of shit. At what point did "annoying as fuck" start getting interpreted as clever? If I wanted to waste time contemplating symbolism and hidden meanings, I'd re-read Heart of Darkness.
