Black Swan. Incredibly awful. Tedious, nausiating, boring. With all the hype I was expecting alot more.

She started watching them around 8:30 and finished all 3 movies by 10:30 this morning. She told me this morning that I'm her Edward. I told her she's my Luol Deng. I can't imagine being swept up in anything that quickly and completely.

I've seen that happen to a lot of my friends. Two of my friends went to a local cinema that ran all 4 movies consecutively one Saturday. It was like an all day event and they sold tickets for $50 to $75 each. I've avoided those books and movies because I'm afraid of the sappy power they possess.

I watched Cape Fear again the other day. It leaves some things unexplained. It's also ridiculous in parts.

I'm presently unscathed by the Twilight Series and The Notebook's Ryan Gosling *beaming with pride*

I've never seen The Notebook either or It's a Wonderful Life or Titanic. Don't intend to watch any of them in this lifetime. I did just recently watch the last two Harry Potter movies, and now wish I hadn't bothered.Inessence wrote:I'm presently unscathed by the Twilight Series and The Notebook's Ryan Gosling *beaming with pride*

Yeah, you people are real special, avoiding certain pop-culture items given an unprecedented and ever-increasing amount of alternative options. Pat yourselves on the back a little more, why don't you?

MurrayFiend, is there a chick flick you really want to see? It's OK. Lot's of straight guys like romantic comedies and musicals and stuff. Just if you go by yourself to see one of these flicks, don't wear a trench coat.MurrayFiend wrote:Yeah, you people are real special, avoiding certain pop-culture items given an unprecedented and ever-increasing amount of alternative options. I agree, Captain America was a way better film than Thor.holeripper wrote:pieceofme wrote:Platoon - 9
Great film. I think everyone knows this one.
Thor - 8
After the disappointment of Captain America it was nice to see a good Marvel adaption.
Captain America is a far superior film to Thor.
Thor just drags on with very little action until the end, and isn't much like the comic.
The only good thing about it was The Destroyer.
I just thought Thor wasn't as strong a story, and considering he was my favorite comic book character growing up, maybe my expectations were too high.
And to me, the only good thing about Thor was Jamie Alexander as Sif, and even she was under-used.

I saw "Zardoz" for the first time. Hands down the best movie starring James Bond in a thong ever.
There was some other movie I liked . . . oh yeah, "Apocalypto"! I really think Mel Gibson is awesome, and I'm not just saying that because he knows how to handle women and jews. I might even watch his Jesus flick some day even though that sounds like a totally retarded premise.

I haven't seen the Notebook or Titanic, but It's A Wonderful Life is about as perfect a movie anyone could make. Such a simple idea done mutherfucking brilliantly.jodi wrote:I've never seen The Notebook either or It's a Wonderful Life or Titanic. Don't intend to watch any of them in this lifetime. Drive 6/10. It was okay. Think I heard to much hype about it.
Fright Night 7.5/10. Thought it was pretty good.
Abduction 4/10. Good idea to start, but poor execution after an initial idea that was original.

Bitter Feast 7/10 a dark comedy that loses the comedy very quickly. if Annie Wilkes (from "Misery"), Patrick Bateman, and Hannibal Lecter had an orgy the villain in this movie would be their love child. it also has one of the best "holy fuck" endings i've ever seen!

The Thing (2011): 5/10
As a huge fan of the 1982 version, I expected a lot, and was disappointed.
The creature effects were great, but the plot and pacing were just bad.
Listening to the Norwegian was cool, though.

Agreed. Very good low budget/under the radar horror flick.jadecrowe wrote:Bitter Feast 7/10 a dark comedy that loses the comedy very quickly. if Annie Wilkes (from "Misery"), Patrick Bateman, and Hannibal Lecter had an orgy the villain in this movie would be their love child. it also has one of the best "holy fuck" endings i've ever seen!

Still debating whether to see The Grey or Man on a Ledge next.
I'll probably end up seeing both, maybe even a matinee double feature, but which should I see first?

Taken. 4/5 Rating
Liam Neeson's character would give Jack Bauer a run for his money in total badassery.

Saw The Grey this past weekend. Brilliant no; entertaining yes. Pretty fuckin' intense too. Not by any means a horror movie, but the way it's filmed and recorded could seriously freak a person out. You could hear a pin drop in the theater, throughout the movie. Worth the price of admission IMO.Hurls34 wrote:Still debating whether to see The Grey or Man on a Ledge next.
