Jack Reacher: 6 out of 10 stars
Its a far cry from Argo or Flight, but it was a decent enough action flick on its own to get a passing grade from me. Jack Reacher can't be reasoned with, he's on a bus somewhere off the grid.

On the rental front, however, the suckfest continues. I can't seem to catch a break.....

Killer Joe: 3 out of 10 stars.
This had all the makings of what should have been a cool movie, but it fails miserably. It had a decent enough cast, but I'm still wondering what went wrong here. Its just a horrible movie that for some reason was getting rave reviews.
Killer Joe now joins a long line of suck movies Ive rented over the last few months which include Silent Night and The Apparition. To say it was only slightly better than those two is kinda of embarrassing.

The sessions. Not sure why all the girls said he was so funny. I guess for a guy in an iron lung he was humorous, but not really funny. 6.5/10

Django Unchained. Really looking forward to this and think I let my expectations get the best of me. I liked it a lot, but did not love it. Still one of the better movies this season so far. 8/10

Hayden Christensen can go all evil on me anytime.. :D
He's unwatchable. How such an awful actor got such an important role to the story is beyond me.
Funny thing is He's not a bad actor but He's terrible in the Star wars films, Hell Portmans terrible as well. Ewen McGregor, Christopher Lee and Ian Mcdiarmid(sp) are the only ones from the prequals that actually overcame the bad dialogue and pulled their characters off pretty well. that being said They're star wars movies, the first 3 arent noted for their great acting either other than Alec Guiness in the first one. Sith was def the best of the prequals and IMO the 3rd best overall behind the first 2.

Because George Lucas is a fucking hack writer. Laurence Olivier couldn't make that dialogue not sound stupid.

Il est minuit, Paris s'éveille (2012) - 9/10. Awesome documentary about the song writer and cabaret singer scene from the left side of the Seine after the war. Interviews with anybody important who's still alive and tons of original footage.

A Countess From Hongkong (1967) - 6/10. Nothing special, despite Brando and Sophia Loren.

Saw "The Hobbit" last night. Nothing like the book. Very violent. And Jamie Foxx is too tall to play Bilbo Baggins. :|

"The Raven" was pretty well done, I'd give it a B+/A-. Problem is, a true Poe aficionado would pick it apart. Conversely, the average Joe Schmoe doesn't read the classics so they would be unfamiliar with the source material. It's a no win. If you've ever read EAP, check out the film. Cusack made for an awesome Edgar!

Definitely varied from the book, but in a good way. I was pleasantly surprised.

The long suffering Miss Tymaster wanted to see This is 40. I wasn't going to complain. I love Leslie Mann. Don't know what it is about her, but I adore her. Megan Fox was a nice bonus!!
The film was a little too long and Jud doesn't do a good job of giving mainstream America a couple they can relate to. A record company owner and a high end fashion store owner struggling financially because they live in a mansion and no one buys records any more? He rides a $10,000 bicycle for God's sake.
That said, the movie had several laugh out loud moments. Those of us in the 30-50 age bracket that have been through the ups and downs of relationships and child rearing can relate. The conference with the principal was worth the price of admission alone.

Zero Dark Thirty - 9/10

Really enjoyed this. At 2.5 hours I expected it to drag at points, but I never lost interest. The much discussed torture scenes were intense at times. Definitely recommended.

Eye of the Tiger 6/10

I don't understand Gary Busey's appeal. He's got the personality of old toast but, I guess he was a good enough 80's tough guy to get leading roles in typical revenge movies like Eye of the Tiger, which opens and ends with the same song, like a Europe concert! The movie was just OK, small town rebel stands up to the bad guys when everyone else is too chickenshit. Some of the violence was surprising tho, especially near the end when he wastes a certain dirty cop, I wont say which one, but it was the kind of brutality you couldn't get away with today. Same with the hospital scene. It loses points only because Busey makes everything look a little too easy, and he never seems to get pissed off enough.
