Zero Dark Thirty. - 1/10...
Absolutely dismal... from the bad acting by the main character to the terrible camera angles, this is simply an atrocity.

Texas Chainsaw 3D - 2 outta 10.
Fucking atrocious.

Anyone that ranks that nonsense anywhere near the first 3 (Fuck Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation) or even the first few reboots/remakes is fucking insane. The 3D was bullshit too.

"Do your thing, cuz!" GTFO with that shit.

Edited to add: The 2 I gave it was for the 2 female leads. I didn't give a shit about their characters, but they were certainly easy on the eyes.

Haven't seen the new one, but I've hated all the rest of them.
The only redeeming value in that horrible remake they made a few years back, was Jessica Biel strutting around in lowriders and a wife-beater. I actually think that's the only reason the film was made to begin with.

Total Recall (remake) 7/10. Surprisingly good. I had low expectations.

Taken 2 8/10 Liam Neeson giving Jack Bauer a run for his money.

Glad I'm not the only one who shares this opinion, I'm fucking blown away at the critical praise being heaped on Chastain, It was just not a memorable performence, Jennifer Lawrence in silver lining playbook on the other hand was, Chastains name is probably etched on the Oscar already though.

Saw the movie on dvd several years ago. Found the dvd at my local library and had to watch it again.
The songs are marvelous
The Czech piano player is so beautiful. Not just the way she played her piano, but her smile and her singing were also very, very beautiful.

I took my son to see this and on the way to the theater we got on the subject of chessy 80s (70s?) movies he should watch.

We talked for about 20 minutes about Flash Gordon.

Blew us away when we were watching the flick and all that stuff came up. Kinda weird.

M - 8/10. Finally got round to watching one of Fritz Lang's movies. Great performance by Peter Lorre as the child murderer. Some really nice visual touches throughout the film particularly when Lorre's character sees the chalk M on his jacket . Still works well as a movie after all these years.

I think it's the most original major studio movie of the genre since Scream.

The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou - 7/10.

I'm beginning to understand the love for this Wes Anderson fella. Any further recommendations from fans?

I liked his newest, Moonrise Kingdom, a lot.

I'm a nutswinger for this guy. Anderson has a familiar style in all of his movies that's very recognizable. This has gotten him a lot of flack from critics, but I know what I'm getting when I watch one of his flicks and I love it.

Agree that The Royal Tennenbaums is a great movie. Rushmore is decent too. Bill Murray makes the movies awesome.

The Heinkeken Kidnapping starring Rutger Hauer. 7.5 out of 10. The movie is entirely in dutch with subtitles but the story was pretty interesting. Based on the true story of the kidnapping of the president of Heineken beer company.

Skyfall - 7.5/10 Not bad, interesting mix of classic bond style themes like the long opening chase scene, and then the more drab realism of the current Sam Mendes Bonds which becomes almost farcical in the end battle out in a stately home in Scotland. Also, I watched this from a torrent, so it might be better on the big screen. I like the way they brought to light the existing and unused tunnels and shelters from the World Wars that run all over London. London does have a hidden city beneath it that we have no idea what the govt. is doing with it.

Cable Guy 7/10 - This was on the TV in the back ground, well written and funny, once of the last decent films that Jim Carrey made that I can remember. Much better than your current Ben Stiller films.

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol 4/5. Probably my favorite out of the series, though I do need to re-watch the original again since it's been about fifteen years since I last watched it.

It was pretty good until near the end. That's when it turned just plain silly.

Finally rented Ted. Why didn't I see this in the theatre? Why didn't I just buy the Blu-Ray? I will be! Any awards show that doesn't say Ted is the greatest film ever made needs to be boycotted and shut down. I especially loved the Flash Gordon/Sam Jones stuff. I had no idea that any of that was in the film and I of the generation that thought Flash Gordon was a cinema master piece and roller skating to "Flashe's Theme" was quite a way to spend Saturday nights back then!
