I thought both actors were brilliant in it, and Lars von Trier has never been better, IMO.

Maniac (2013) - 6.5/10. Not a bad remake. Elijah Wood definitely looks like a creep, so he fits that bill....although it's hard to out-creep Joe Spinnell.

Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Watched Lee Daniel`s The Butler last night. The film if you dont know, stars Forrest Whitaker and Oprah Winfrey in a tale spanning 50 years of servitude for Whitakers character Cecil Gaines, culminating with him retiring after serving 30 years at the White House. The character is based in part on the life of Eugene Allen, who served as White House butler for over 30 years and 8 presidents from the Truman to Reagan administrations. Not a terribly bad film, but not as worthy as some critics would make it out to be...imagine Forrest Gump for African Americans, kinda-sorta...
Whitaker is strong in his portrayal, but the Civil Rights era stuff borders on monotony during the middle stretch of the film. Oprah Winfrey almost makes you forget she is the worlds riches woman...almost. This role is no where near as strong of a performance as her role in The Color Purple, but I can see a strong Oscar push for her...but Whitaker will get snubbed.
The film and both lead actors have already been snubbed by the Golden Globes...so anything can happen when it comes time for the Oscars...

1981, as far as horror goes, was an awesome year. Wolfen still holds up too.

Elysium-
7/10
Had a lot of potential.
Movie was off to a good start but stalled in the 2nd half.
The ending was very predictable and foolish.

The Wolf of Wall Street - 10/10
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
At the cinema - The Hobbit (2nd episode), excellent 9/10.
Gravity 8/10. Unbelievable Fx.
At home - Elysium 6/10. Went to shit about half way through after promising start.
Grown Ups 2 8/10. Actually laughed more at this than the first one.
World's End 7/10. Some good moments in above average caper. The worst of the 3 in the series IMO.

Really? COOL. What was it like? Typical Scorsese, or anything out of the box you weren't expecting, stylistically? I guess, in short: was there anything experimental about it?ratt_gang_member wrote:The Wolf of Wall Street - 10/10
I want to see it, kinda gelly right now. Can you give a quick review, as a Christmas/New Year's gift to me?

Fast 6. I can see them easily carrying on the franchise without Paul Walker. He wasn't even that integral in this movie. They should just have Jason Statham kill him off in 7.

Slower than a dog trying to shit after eating a wheel of cheese. I'm blown away that Willem Dafoe attached his name to this crap. It's only shocking if you think 25 seconds of a random Redtube.com video is shocking. A quick handjob with a bloody moneyshot and showing actual penetration in slow-mo using body doubles still does not make a watchable movie.
Forget the sex scenes. When you attempt to show a slow motion scene of a baby falling out of a window to it's death and even manage to make THAT boring... you've failed.
God, I started to watch that one night and couldn't take the dullness. It's supposed to be one of those "greatest movies of all time" but wow, it was so slow and boring.

That Funny Feeling - 7/10. Sandra Dee, Bobby Darin.
Foolish plot. She plays a maid who stays in a client's apartment she thinks is out of town. Darin plays the love interest who happens to be said client.

75+ year old Redford casting himself to play a father to a tween girl was a bit of a strech but it was a damn good movie 8.5/10

A really terrific low-budget indie about the workers and young residents of a foster care facility for at-risk youth. Several really sharp performances in this one.

Nice little Olivia Wilde double feature today
In time (2011) Amanda seyfried and JT, good stuff but even with the plot it was hard for me to see Olivia cast as Justin Timberlake's mother 7.5/10
The Incredible Burt Wonderstone(2013) Steve Carell, Steve buscemi, Jim Carey, james gandolfini ,but Alan arkin stole the movie 7.5/10

All Is Lost - 5/10 It's an hour forty minutes of a guy stranded on a boat. At least in Castaway Tom Hanks had a volleyball to talk to. Robert Redford literally has like3 lines in the entire movie.
Mud - 9/10 I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this one. Great performances all around, especially the main kid.

I enjoyed the film as well. Sorry, but Keanu was in his element this time and it worked. Shame it will go down as one of the biggest money losers of all time.

Documentary about Sea World and the Killer Whales they train.
I recommend this film to anybody that has not yet seen it.
You won't be able to take your eyes off the screen and you just might
never want to support any Sea World in the world.
