The Nutty Professor (1996)
8/10
This movie has held up great and has so many funny lines throughout. Eddie Murphy is so awesome in it.

House by the Cemetery (1981) Italian horror film about an undead Doctor lurking in the basement of a house a family had moved into. Several gory scenes, kinda slow. Lucio Fulci directed. Apparently this movie inspired the Dr. satan character for Rob Zombie. 6/10

Conjuring 2 8\10 Not as good as the first, but still has a couple of good scares.
And the film opens in the Amityville house. Can't go wrong with that.

Autumn Sonata / Höstsonaten (1978) - 9/10:
Late Ingmar Bergman movie with Liv Ullmann and Ingrid Bergman, who are both incredible here.
Hannah Arendt (2012) - 5/10:
Thought it was a biopic but it focused mostly on the Eichmann trials, with trite political discussions between stereotypical characters. Disappointing.
Detour / Snarveien (2009) - 6/10:
Norwegian horror thriller with a pretty fresh take on the internet snuff shtick.
Letters From the Big Man (2011) - 5/10:
Weird movie about some environmentalist artist or whatever who hangs out in the Oregon wilderness for some reason. Scenery is amazing, then she meets a fucking Sasquatch and I don't know what the fuck this is anymore. There's no conclusion and nothing makes sense to me. Lily Rabe is hot in it.

Curse of the Dragon Slayer (2013) low budget "Sword & Sorcery" type movie, but was actually pretty entertaining, acting, costumes, CGI were all solid, and it actually had a story. IMO, the only thing it lacked was some gratuitous nudity.

The Sandlot - 10/10: Told the boy, "You're killin' me smalls" the other night. He gave me that glazed over deer in the headlights look, so I had to introduce him to the movie.
Almost Famous - 10/10: Not sure how I've never seen this. My friends have always told me that it's a "must see," but I just never got around to it.
Django Unchained - 8/10: Ran about 45 minutes too long.

Point Break, original w/Keanu and Swayze Blu Ray version
8/10
Still a great flick many years later. Unsure if I should watch the remake. Any suggestions?

Phantasm - 5/10
Maybe it was cool back then but it didn't hold up too well. Only one person getting killed by the "orb"? Meh.
I'll be seeing the next 3 soon and I'm going in with low expectations.

Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale (2010) - 8/10:
Finnish horror comedy about the real Santa Claus being excavated from an ice cave, who turns out to be an evil monster. Sounds stupid as hell, but it's actually creepy and awesome.
Hotel (2013) - 7/10:
Swedish movie about a therapy group of various fucked-up, depressed individuals going AWOL. Pretty heavy but not without some comic relief. Alicia Vikander is hot in it.
August / Elokuu (2011) - 5/10:
Finnish coming of age movie about some nerd who goes on a road trip with a crazy chick. Pihla Viitala is hot in it.
The Fountain (2006) - 5/10:
Pretentious and boring Darren Aronofsky movie. It's basically just Hugh Jackman freaking out over his wife's cancer. But simultaneously in three different time zones and/or parallel universes or whatever. Really not that deep.

10 Cloverfield Lane - 7 acid barrels out of 10
Entertaining and taught, but the ending left me a little cold when the movie's logic suddenly started contradicting itself. John Goodman is fucking great in this, as you've no doubt heard. Worth a watch.
Jurassic World - 0 cash grabs out of 10
We made it through 25 minutes of this parade of tropes and shitty CGI before we bailed. Just fucking awful.

Anomalisa: 9/10
The story interested me much more than the visuals. But the animation is impressive too.
I thought it was a very sad movie.

Goodnight Mommy 7\10. Good movie with a great twist at the end, but I have mixed feelings about this. I've seen a million horror movies and it takes a lot to surprise me, but this surprised me. I'm pissed because I should have seen it coming.

45 years - Not by choice, the birthday girl (a.k.a. the wife) picked it. 90 minutes of nothing really happening.
Deadpool - A nice spin on the superhero genre. I already am looking forward to the second one, & hopefully a third.

The Martian. 7/10. Ehhh.
Ride Along 2. 6.5/10. Not sure, but I think this was better than the first Kevin Hart was pretty funny and Ice Cube was a dick but was cool.

13 Hours - Seemed well done and it kept me on my toes throughout. 9/10.
X-Men: Apocalypse - 5/10. I'm kind of over the big ensemble superhero movies. When everyone has powers, it's less impactful. I much prefer superhero movies that focus on just one hero.

Sons of Norway (2011) - 8/10:
Story about a Norwegian kid who just lost his mother to cancer coping by getting involved in the upcoming early 80s punk scene, while his anti-authoritarian hippie father loses his mind and supports the shit out of him. Hilarious and touching and still very real. Johnny Rotten even has a small cameo.
Rudo y Cursi (2008) - 7/10:
Mexican comedic drama about the rise and fall of two brothers getting into pro soccer.
We Are Still Here (2015) - 5/10:
Generic 70s throwback horror with a haunted house, demon possession yadda yadda.
Big Game (2014) - 6/10:
Samuel L. Jackson is the president and gets his plane shot down over the woods of Finland, where some hillbilly kid defends him against terrorists. Not bad for a ridiculous 80s style action comedy.
