While I appreciate the president recognizing the service of a fallen military member, parading the widow out came off like a continued desperate attempt to remove any blame from him in the soldier's death in the botched raid..
Ryan's father still refuses to see Drumpf, refused the invitation to attend and demands he not hide behind this son's death to avoid an investigation into what went wrong..

Drumpf's blaming Ryan's death on the general's "wanting to do the raid" and not his giving the okay to proceed with the operation, given he is the commander-in-chief of the armed forces... His excuse is like the kid who gets busted stealing candy with his friends and claims "they made me do it."

Seeing Ryan's widow paraded out like that was cringe-inducing. I want to believe she would be disgusted at the attempts to use either her husband or herself like that, but her presence at the speech leads me to presume otherwise. My guess is that she probably really believes that Trump and the Republicans up top have some deep sadness over his (needless) death. He green-lit this operation without proper intelligence and then put the blame on his generals when it went south. Only Ryan's dad seems to see this situation for what it clearly is.
