"Venom" - 3.5/10

The trailers didn't look good, but somehow I still found myself curious. This is a smidgen above "Catwoman" bad, but it's still pretty bad. How two great actors like Tom Hardy and Michelle Williams ended up in this misfire is beyond me. Maybe it sounded better in the description or read better on the page? The Venom symbiote dialogue is laughable and not in a good way, although the CG occasionally looked cool. Skip it. If you must go, stay through the very end of the credits for a couple of tags.

"First Man" - 9/10

Pretty great. The IMAX format looked fantastic. Not a showy space race movie like "The Right Stuff" (also great), but a more reserved, powerful procedural about Armstrong's/America's mission to the moon. Quite a technical marvel as well.

"Bad Times at the El Royale" - 5.5/10

I was hoping I'd like this more, but it just didn't quite get there. It's really slow-moving, and the payoff isn't great. It's as if Drew Goddard, a good writer and director, went on a '90s Tarantino and Paul Thomas Anderson binge and decided we needed another throwback knockoff. To be fair, it has a number of good moments and the whole design and cinematography look really cool, but overall, it's kind of undercooked.

"Halloween" (2018) - 8.5/10

This definitely delivered. It very much hearkens back to the vibe of the original with some modern flourishes and a seemingly realistic, plausible take on how Laurie Strode's life went on after that first movie's events. It's pretty tense throughout, and the kills are very creatively handled. Carpenter returning to update his score with his current touring band was really cool, too.

I haven't seen "H20" in a while, but yeah. The team obviously took care to get this one right considering all the duds in the franchise.

A Star Is Born (2018) Lady Gaga, Bradley Cooper, Andrew Dice Clay, Sam Elliot, Alec Baldwin Eddie Griffin. Never saw any of the previous versions, really cool to see the Diceman in a hit movie, gaga was great as an actress and it was easy to forget the popstar but as soon as she started singing it ruined it for me, guy who took my ticket ask me if i brought any kleenex, some people around me were crying at the end but it didnt moved me one bit 7/10

"Can You Ever Forgive Me?" - 8.5/10

Really good movie. Melissa McCarthy and Richard E. Grant are terrific and have some crackling good chemistry in this. It's probably McCarthy's career-defining role to date.

Caught “First Man” yesterday. Neil Armstrong sure went through a ton personally. The early astronauts of the 1960’s were on some way beyond Evel Kneivel shit. Thought it was a good show outside of constant Ryan Gosling and his limited dialogue, which seems to be standard for all his shows.

"The Old Man & the Gun" - 9/10

Great film. A fun, warm send-off from acting for Robert Redford, who has a nice, easy chemistry with Sissy Spacek.

Of course it was. I haven't seen it yet, but I will. I don't care who you are. If you're even remotely acceptable as a human being, you love Mr. Rogers. Period.
I loved it. Probably give it a 9/10. I can't imagine anyone not enjoying it.
I agree. I saw it last night and after the news of the bombing seeing something like that hit me hard. I had no idea that the Westboro Baptist Cult picketed his funeral-that's when you know you did something right-if they find you wrong. So many things made that man wonderful, yet he himself was humble and still had doubts about himself even far into adulthood. I am glad the documentary was made and I hope that the upcoming film about him with Tom Hanks will do him justice too.
