What is your fast food “go-to”for a comfort food?
We all have fast food places that are remotely close to where we live. What is your go to comfort food at your fast food place of choice?

I'm walking distance to at least 50 places in Downtown Las Vegas before I even have to step foot in a casino/restaurant.
I'm going with my four orders of Loaded Fries (bacon, cheese, and ranch) at the White Castle on Fremont Street, where I got my first local's discount back in 2020.
"White Castle: It's Not ONLY For Drunk People!" should be their motto.

Hot peanuts, 2 bags for $1.09
The only fast food I find edible is Del Taco but the one on the corner went so far downhill before lockdown I stopped going and even now only step foot inside once or twice a year made easier by the fact the prices have doubled.

I wouldn't call it comfort food per se, but I can always eat Taco Smell: 2 chili cheese burritos and a chalupa supreme slathered with Diablo sauce.

Been in Texas for work for a month. Have had In-N-Out 5-6 times.

No fries. Jesus…their fries are the worst I’ve ever had. Frozen generic crinkle fries in an air fryer are 10x better.

Within a 1 mile radius of my house, there are nine pizza/burger/kebab shops, five Chinese takeaways, three Indian takeaways, four dedicated burger joints and two fish and chip shops.Only one of these is a chain (a Dominos Pizza). With that much choice, having a go-to would be a waste.

The fries are only good if you eat them immediately. When they get cold, dip them in that chocolate shake. That helps.DemonFilth2001 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2024 3:14 pm Been in Texas for work for a month. Have had In-N-Out 5-6 times.

Also, you can get them animal style as well. My kids tell me they're good that way.

Re: What is your fast food “go-to”for a comfort food?
I moved to San Antonio last summer and there's one less than a mile from my house. I don't love it as much as a lot of people but the burgers are pretty damn good and it's cheap as fuck compared to the major fast food places. Before I moved here, my two go to places were Carl's Jr. and Del Taco but the nearest Carl's Jr is about 25 minutes away and there's no Del Taco at all. There's another local chain, Taco Cabana that's pretty good, better and cheaper than Taco Bell and right next to the In N Out. I try (and usually succeed) to limit my fast food intake to twice a month and it's usually Taco Cabana and In N Out.DemonFilth2001 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2024 3:14 pm Been in Texas for work for a month. Yeah. That’s what everyone here is telling me. I had them hot and fresh the first time. Horrible. I’ll stick with 2 burgers instead!Metal Sludge wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2024 3:49 pmThe fries are only good if you eat them immediately. When they get cold, dip them in that chocolate shake. I don’t know that it can be considered fast food, but when I feel miserable I find a pepperoni pizza comforting.

Chain pizza joints have lowered an already low bar. Many don't pick up their own phones (call centers) or do their own deliveries (now using DoorDash), at least around here. There are a couple of mom-and-pop places that are dine-in or pick-up only and are still awesome.mrsnikkisixx wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2024 6:19 pm I don’t know that it can be considered fast food, but when I feel miserable I find a pepperoni pizza comforting.

I rotate between chains. Been hitting Domino's up recently. Also get it from a couple of locally owned places. All pizza is good.TooOldToCare wrote: ↑Thu Sep 19, 2024 3:53 amChain pizza joints have lowered an already low bar. I do not find comfort in fast food at all! Chicken soup for me.
Pho or a Chinese noodle soup with lots of sriracha does the trick too especially for groggy days and hangovers.

I was getting the "2 whopper jr's w/cheese for $5" special after band practice once in a while, until they stopped the deal.
