I grew up near Tampa during the Big Red Machine days. They spring trained there. Got to meet all the legends as a kid. Back in the early to mid 70s, you could go down on the field for pics before games. Great time to be a kid and baseball fan.

Sucks he didn't make the Hall of Fame while he was alive. I always thought he should have been inducted, and they could have kept their moral high ground by keeping him out of the game while recognizing his on-field accomplishments.
Not for anybody, but his stats were just insane. He gambled on the game and his team (not to lose though). It's a widely-accepted part of today's sporting landscape.
Same with Bonds and Clemens. Put them in the 'asterisk' wing of the Hall, but they're worthy, especially now.
