So Alien: Romulus

Post by tym »

I kinda gave up hope for the Alien Franchise , after watching that turd Alien Three. The rest of them just sucked fucking ass. Then they Came out with Prey. After watching that one I thought, well if they can finally make a decent predator movie. Just maybe. Then I saw Alien Romulus.

Holy fucking shit. Romulus is right up there with the First Alien Movie. Its by far one of my Fav Movies. So much so, I bought it as a digital movie on Amazon. I already had Alien director cut, and Alien two special edition, which really should of been the original release. Kinda gave you more of a back story on Newt. Normally, if I buy a digital movie from amazon, Most I paid about 5 bucks for, a couple I paid 10 bucks for them, Romulus I paid 20 for it, and don't regret that buy. I have watched it several times.

With the sequel to Romulus, it would not surprise me to see Ripley some how show up. Be funny if she was a droid. The sequel to Romulus is gonna be a tall order to match how good Romulus was. It will be interesting to see if they can pull it off, and what direction the movie will take. Fingers Crossed they dont fuck it up.
I'm finding it difficult to masturbate to this. I'm trying, I just have so little to work with...

Agreed. I was blown away at just how great this film is.

Great story, great cast, overall a perfect Alien film.

Am I the only one that thought this movie kinda stunk?

I can hardly remember anything from it, or who was in it. That's not a good sign at all. It was kinda boring and the actors were utterly forgettable.

IMO the best of the lot when they got this series back up and running again was the Prometheus film starring Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender. Fassbender was damn brilliant in this and I feel like the two instalments they've put out since then don't come anywhere close to measuring up to it.

I was disappointed, because the setup and first part was interesting, but then it got really fucking lazy really fucking quick.

There were a lot of repeated plotlines and ideas meant as homages (I guess), really bad CGI of a dead Ian Holm named Rook rather than Bishop, and the Ripley "bitch" quote at the end was completely embarrassing.

Apparently, Ripley's escape shuttle from the Nostromo is supposed to be visible in a scene, but I didn't see it.

I enjoyed it (The Andy actor was fucking spot-on perfect), I really did, but it was overall a terrible movie. Unforgiveable shit: the Ian Holm CGI was borderline unwatchable, the constant throwbacks to shit that has already been done in other Alien movies, and worst of all, making the gestation time of these things to literally five minutes in order to pull the ol' "the rest of the movie is in real time!" trick that nobody even caught on to, including myself.

Spot on. It looked promising in the beginning...loved the look of the colony but once they left it started going downhill fast. The characters were completely forgettable (except Andy) and the ideas recycled or just plain stupid. It's like they took a bit from every freaking Alien movie and pieced it together for some reason
While not a disaster it couldve been so much better IMO.
