Money mistakes you have made

Post by ParaDime77 »

What are some of the more foolish money mistakes you have made through the years? Maxing out credit cards, no emergency fund, gambling, eating out constantly, chronic overspending would be some so'd examples. Also, bad investments and overpriced monthly vehicle payments?

Let’s hear how you blew a bunch of money?

Becoming a full blown alcoholic by the age of 29....started at 18. Haven't had a drink since September 3, 1999...thank you Jesus!

Getting credit cards as a teenager and maxing them out on everything from hair extensions to new vehicles. I was young and stupid and didn't know any better.

Declared bankruptcy in 1995 to get all of the credit card debt washed away.

Took me many years, but I now have excellent credit and no more debt. Lessons learned.

My credit card bill never goes about $200 a month and is paid in full when the bill comes.

Good for you. I just celebrated another of several in the past one year anniversary. It truly is one day at a time.

Not hiring an accountant and trying to do my taxes myself when my side hustle for extra spending money blew up into a 7 figure enterprise. Probably cost me big.

The only time was maxing out a Discover card at 21 years old had like $12K on it. At the time who knows how many pairs of True Religions, bar tabs, dinners, Ed Hardy tees, Affliction tees on it lol

None of that craziness anymore. AMEX gets paid off every month. Besides utilities only bills is mortgage and car payment

When I was young, I had maxed out credit cards all the time.
But when I started to work in accounting, 1993 ish? I learned how credit works.
I taught my daughters to pay off their cards every month, to never use an ATM, that's not our bank.
The oldest daughter hasn't really followed my advice, but the other two have.
They are a little older now, and they look into credit cards that give them something. Like cashback, or miles.
I'm pretty proud of these two.

Didn’t go to Wrestlemania in Phoenix. For some reason I thought it was like 9 hours away. It’s basically same distance to Vegas.ohh well lesson learned

I don’t understand how people can have life/money problems. Life teaches you what to do and not to do. Do this and you can have Baywatch beach chair lifestyle

Drugs are bad..don’t do them..easy
Don’t drink.. bad things happen- huge expense..easy
Money.. spend what you can - don’t be dumbass . If your not Taylor Swift don’t spend like you are
Jani Lane and Bret Michaels should form a band called "Nelson II"

This is actually really sage advice. And something a lot of people struggle with.
