Re: Rate the last movie you saw
I want to see Longlegs, too. I'll wait for it to hit streaming. I haven't gone to a cinema in 6-7 years.
I watched Dune and Dune 2 back to back. 7/10
I never finished the book as a youngster or watched the original movie. I liked the political storyline, though some of the acting was uninspired.

Some weird, random chick trying to solve a serial killer case she's been assigned.VinnieVincentsVag wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 7:53 amCool.
My wife and I wanted to see this.
What is the general plot, without spoilers?
Very similar to Silence of the Lambs, but just a bit different.
Gets a bit wonky trying to figure what's real and what's supernatural, but that's strictly up to how you interpret the plot.
You'll enjoy, trust me!

Deadpool and Wolverine - 7/10.
Fun, stupid, turn-your-brain-off entertainment. Hugh Jackman is actually really fucking good at portraying anger.

Alien Romulus - 10/10 Loved this movie. Definitely gotta watch it twice though. So much missed the first time.
Don't know why, but this year has been pretty fucking good for movie watching . . . so far.

Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice. Decent enough although I didn't really see the point of the Monica Bellucci or William Dafoe characters. At least they didn't drag the end. 7/10.

I'd give it a 6/10. It was fun seeing the characters again and Keaton is still fantastic, but overall, it was just kind of there.

Skywalkers: A Love Story - 4/10
A documentary about a male/female who does those insane free walks along the edges of the world's tallest skyscrapers (and falls in love). It's not worth your time, but I like watching those videos.

The Good Bad And the Ugly
Had not seen this classic in decades , so watched it with my 13 year old twins over the weekend.
My twins love Metallica , and I had taken my son to the non repeat Metallica weekend earlier this month .
He asked about ‘Ecstasy Of Gold’ as Metallica open their concerts with it.
I asked if he wanted to watch the movie where Ecstasy Of Gold comes from , and although he was more excited to watch it than his sister, they both really enjoyed the film .
They did not know anything about Clint Eastwood , so I told them about how he was one of the iconic actors over the decades and was a director etc as well .
Was thinking to watch different Clint Eastwood films with them each month .
Any particular favourites Eastwood movies you guys have (either as actor or director) ?

LOL, Yeah, I thought the choice of name for this film was stupid. I think the term most of those nuts go by is "roof toppers."Danzig in the Dark wrote: ↑Mon Sep 09, 2024 8:10 amThere was some other movie with Skywalkers who fell in love and it turned out they were brother and sister.TooOldToCare wrote: ↑Mon Sep 09, 2024 6:22 am Skywalkers: A Love Story - 4/10

I'd give it 7/10 at most. The first 30min were good then it slowly turned into another Prometheus.TravisBicklesMohawk wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2024 5:10 am Alien Romulus - 10/10 Loved this movie. Definitely gotta watch it twice though. So much missed the first time.

High Plains Drifter
I had never seen it before , thought I would watch it as it was the last month it will be on Netflix in my area .
It is a movie that is dark and leaves a lasting impression, and makes you think of the deeper meanings, and if it is supernatural etc .
It is over 50 years old but does not seem dated in its delivery and impact . It’s use of enough ambiguity to give leeway in interpretations , is part of the great direction that Clint employed.
In reading up on this film I found out it was the second film that Eastwood directed and first as both director and lead actor.
Was shocked to read that he is allergic to horses.
Looking forward to watching more of his movies.

Halloween - 1978 version. 10/10
Saw this on the big screen at my local theater. 10:00 pm showing, all by myself in a dark theater. Needless to say, I was effing petrified!
Halloween is a film I've seen dozens, perhaps hundreds of times. There's no question it is one of the best and scariest films ever released.
However, my experience just made it 10 times scarier.
Can't recommend enough if you get a chance to see this in the theaters, please do so.
BTW I live in New Orleans. The Prytania theater at Canal Place is showing Halloween all this week, same time, 10:00 pm. So if you're in the neighborhood, be sure to check it out.

I finally watched Longlegs. Great cinematography and a creepy story but a mediocre movie. I really wanted to like it but give it a 5/10.

Gladiator 2. A solid 6, maybe a 7 so not as good as the first one but not bad at all for a follow-up.
Would have rated it higher if it was a bit shorter, 2h 30 min is a lot for a film that's mostly extended action sequences.
