Pelosi’s speech ripping was optically retarded. She made herself and, by proxy, the Democrats, look stupid and bitter. She stepped all over the Democratic response by putting the focus on her. As someone who usually doesn’t allow herself to be drawn in to Trump’s bullshit, she picked a really dumb time to let Trump get to her.

The silliest part of the SOTU I've seen is how when Trump said "The state of our union is stronger than it's ever been before!" and all the sycophants stood up and applauded. I'm sure there were more lies in the address than you can count but that one is such a demonstrable load of bullshit. You can point to previous addresses where they say the same thing but it has never been so obviously a false statement as it is in this particular moment. Even those who support Trump understand it's complete nonsense, and those people come pretty close to understanding nothing. Short of an all out civil war, I don't think it's possible for "our union" to be any weaker than it is right now.

We are so far removed from honesty and accurate perception of the world around us and Trump obviously will do anything he can to either keep it that way or make it worse.

The one that really got me was when he said he’ll always ensure that pre existing conditions will be covered and his soldiers stood up like there were tacks on their seats, cheering like they give a single fuck about healthcare. The GOP has done everything in its power to gut healthcare and has delivered exactly zero on that front. Another blatant, pandering lie.

Not really. I'm thinking Nancy doesn't exactly have the arm strength of a gorilla and she's probably very aware that there is an unfathomably huge audience watching. Try to rip the speech up and fail? Trump and the tards would have a field day.

It's understandable to criticize her for doing it I guess, but deciding to do it and then making sure it doesn't turn into some backfire of failure in front of the entire country is not weird in the least.
