We take a lot of refugees but not one that try and enter via boats. The government thought the number was getting out of hand and so made a blanket rule a few years ago & have been trying to find a place for the ones in detention for ages. That's who these people are. Lots and lots of debate about it here.Anne_Thrax wrote:So let me get this Australia thing straight. They absolutely 100% do not accept any refugees. Re: President Trump
Speaking of "complicated", the Houthi are Shiite as well and the "free world" couldn't give a fuck because Saudi has the money we all want. This is all pure hypocrisy, pro or against IS hasn't meant a damn thing to any Western country if we're being objective. Not saying the Houthi are the "good guys" either. As every minority conflict, this one's complex and sure as shit won't be solved with bombs.TenBenny wrote:Exactly. It gets more serious now because the administration already has its first needless casualties on its hands. The botched raid in Yemen. Obama planned the raid but didn't go through with it because he didn't have enough intel at the time, and Trump and his people impulsively went in, and it was, to use Trump's preferred word, a disaster. Obviously it was more important to joke about "The Apprentice" ratings at the annual prayer breakfast this morning instead of offering a prayer for those who died, including an eight-year old girl.vlad wrote:And rattling the sabre at Iran? Has anyone told him that Iran is Shi'ite and the enemy of ISIS? I thought this was all about taking out ISIS? It's much more complicated than that. That's the problem, Trump don't do "complicated".
I'm so tired of the pants-shitting on the refugee thing, too. Righties like to call "the left" pussies.
http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/20 ... trike.html
Calling out Trump for "botching" Yemen attacks is just senseless partisanship, though, GTFO with that shit. Obama didn't care and this government won't care. Whether their "raids" are successful in killing only the correct people doesn't make them any more right. There are over 2 million displaced Yemenis as a result of civil war and "foreign aid", about 200,000 seeking refuge abroad. Which they certainly won't get from the nation leading these type of military attacks, not with the clever new executive order in place.
Fuck Trump's Twitter and his skin tone and his hair and his wife and all that shit, but there can't be enough outrage at sweepingly rejecting refugees from a country whose civil population is directly under your attack.
Deterrence policy never worked, there's people dying off the shores because our standard of living is simply more important than their lives. We should call it what it is. The detention of asylum seekers is almost as fucked up - and largely illegal, according to the UN.gruentransfer wrote:We take a lot of refugees but not one that try and enter via boats. It's too bad she made that mistake, because now throngs of people will forever argue it happened. Which, of course, was the plan all along.

Re: President Trump
I don't support that. I do believe in possibly banning certain folks from countries that assisted in the 9/11 attacks. Course, I believed all of our borders should've been shut down after that attack. Incriminating any race with something like this ban is just wrong. It divides this country more. And, that is the last thing we need.Chip Z'Hoy wrote:Cool, so you're against the Muslim ban?Bludegeon wrote:Course, since someone doesn't think the same , you assume you know what they are about.
I also didn't support going into Iraq and Libya. I also don't believe bombing the shit out of countries everyday is solving anything either. I would rather the USA completely pull out of the Mid East. But, unfortunately, it is too late for that because the USA caused the whole mess in the first place.
I also believe in forcing our current ILLEGAL Immigration laws. I also believe we need to go back to a quota in regards as to how many people are allowed in America yearly.. I have no problem with anyone who comes to this country, again, LEGALLY and contributes to this country, assimilating with our cultures and prospering. Hoping they have the best life they can give to themselves and their family.
These are just opinions, beliefs, neither right or wrong. Go ahead and flame away. I know, it's sludge. LOL

But it really isn't too late though. The "too late" excuse has been trotted out by both administrations and the pundit class for 16 years. It's the same playbook, "Oh well if we withdraw it will be worse/We can't be isolationists". Nations should be responsible and be held accountable for what their interventions cause and have caused in the past, not what might happen if they don't interfere or withdraw. We know that our interventions, meddling, and occupation in the Middle East is a complete failure, has caused millions of deaths and destroyed whole countries. Trump has the ability to change that if he wants to. If he's Mr. Anti-Establishment as he claims he is, he can show it be reversing the course of warmongering that the establishment of both parties have implemented for 70 years. And I don't mean "making better deals" or different but equally warmongery strategy as other administrations. The US Government is not obligated to assist the Saudis in destroying and starving Yemen. The USG is not obligated to assist either side in the Syrian Civil War. The USG is not obligated to nation build in Libya. Let's see him make the best deal possible for Middle East and its people: stop killing and oppressing them.

Her exact quote was: "I bet it's brand new information to people that President Obama had a six-month ban on the Iraqi refugee program after two Iraqis came here to this country, were radicalized and they were the masterminds behind the Bowling Green massacre. It didn't get covered."exitflagger wrote:Conway is now saying she meant to say "terrorists" instead of "massacre". It was all just a use of the wrong word. No biggie.
She claimed they were masterminds behind a massacre in Bowling Green... How the fuck do you mix up massacre and terrorist? Massacre is an event. Terrorist is a person.
I'm beginning to see why Drumpf hasn't given Sarah Palin a position, she and this Conway broad would be constantly competing for stupid quote of the day..
