Too Big to Fail - HBO dramatization of a critical period in the 2008 Financial Crisis. 9/10. Riveting, chilling - plays like a thriller. Great cast.

Take Me Home Tonight - Tries and fails to be a fun 80's movie. Topher Grace doesn't have the charisma to play the John Cusack role, the obligatory fat best friend didn't have the charisma to pull of his role, and the whole script and movie fell flat. Apparently it only made $6 million at the box office, so other people must have agreed. Didn't finish it. 3/10.

Whoever made that flick cast it perfectly and did a great job to not politicize what happened. They did a great job of showing just how close we came to completely melting down again. Rich people being greedy need to be watched.

Wanted to ask you about this for weeks when was the last time you've watched a current movie, hell even a movie from the 80' 90's? its seems like all your reviews are from stuff from the 40's-50's 60's. Maybe you watch current stuff to but just decide to not post reviews ?

That movie also sat on the shelf for about 2 years before it got dumped before the summer season started. All the hallmarks of quality.

Okay, then how about the new X-Men flick? Lots of action and good visual effects, not like that grainy black and white shit you watch.

Trust me, you're gonna love it.

I was wondering the same thing. Do you have all these old movies on DVD or do you just watch a lot of TCM? Really where do you see all these old flicks? BTW I love old horror and film noir flicks.

Totally agree. Perfectly cast and did remain objective. I hope everyone realizes that the fat cats who caused this DID NOT learn their lesson and currently nothing has been put into place to prevent this from happening again. (Although there have been talks recently about regulating multi-national investment firms, but no action taken that I've heard of.)

I'm not into comic books, but let me know when they make a Calvin And Hobbes movie. And lot of movies I see are in Technicolor and not grainy at all. So suck it.

I don't watch very many current movies. I think the last "current" movie I watched was from 2007, but that was a documentary about Joe Strummer.

I do watch TCM a lot. The last several movies I rated were ones I saw on TCM.

I have a lot of old movies too. They're really cheap on Amazon now, so I've been stocking up.

Amazon. Good to know-I feel a Bette Davis binge coming on.
I usually just buy them on the cheap at Barnes and Nobles.

I've gotten a lot off Amazon for under 10 bucks. But some of the hard to find ones are still $20ish. You should also check TCM, as they have ones that are exclusive to their website.

I don't know why I never went to TCM's website before. It is going to remind me by email that The Letter with Bette Davis will air 8/3/11 at 4:30pm. So cool! Thanks!

Hostel II (2007) - 7/10. I liked the first one better, but this one gets special mention for the way Weiner-dog bit the dust hanging upside down and the scene at the end when the dude uses the C word at the wrong time.

The Wraith - 4/10. Great 80s rock soundtrack and Sherilynn Fenn is unfathomably hot, but holy fuck, is the movie itself so bad and cheesy.

Dirty Love - 2/10. Jenny McCarthy gets her tits out, but unfortunately she also wrote this piece of shit.

Easy A - 7/10. I think my brain is finally starting to seriously degenerate, along with my balls. The only movies I like nowadays are cute teenager comedies with a moral. I'd say Emma Stone's really hot, but I probably just want to braid her hair.

A statistical analysis of why there is only one bonafide movie star in Hollywood with 23 other lesser stars.

http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/671 ... movie-star

I didn't realize this is the worst blockbuster summer for Hollywood since the term was coined.

The title captures perfectly how you feel when the credits roll.

Brotherhood (2010) - A pledge prank turns into a night of car crashes, murder and white on black viloence. Not a bad flick at all - 7/10

Transformers : Dark of the Moon - if you are trying to rate it on a story-with-substance level - 1/10. If you are trying to rate it as a bunch of robot cars that fight each other and blow shit up - 9/10

The Violent Kind (2010) - the premise of this flick - a n outlaw biker movie with zombies - might intrigue you on netflix, but don't bother. It tries to be a horrified version of Sons of Anarchy and fails. One semi decent full frontal nudity shot. - 3/10.

It's a good movie, but the beginning is pretty boring. And by "beginning", I mean first hour or so.

...Or at least that's what it felt like.

To Kill An Irishman - 7/10. Good flick, could have been longer though, as the first 30 minutes or so, and a few other parts, seemed kind of crammed together/rushed.

I have a strange crush on Linda Cardellini too.

Its been all down hill since I saw the last X-Men movie.

X-Men First class: 8 - Really a good movie

Green Lantern: 5 - and I'd grade it even lower compared to X-Men
A friend of mine warned me that it was 'Meh!' I agree.

Conan O'Brien can't be stopped: 6 - wait for the DVD for this one.

Super 8: 5.5 - the same friend that warned be about Green Lantern also warned me about Super 8, but nothing else playing really appealed to me so I saw this out of default - default of me. This has that Speilburgian glow around it which can be really annoying....
