I'm officially into my annual month of nothing but horror/halloween related programming.
Last nights choices:

Lisa And The Devil: 6/10. Eh...it wasn't even close to being Bava's best as some fans have stated. Although, I am interested to see how they spun it into an exorcist ripoff in "House Of Exorcism" by shooting a new sub-plot.

Poltergeist 2: 7/10. Not nearly as good as the first, but I gotta say, Julian Beck's Reverend Kane could go down as one of the creepiest movie villians of all time. Every time he was on screen, I felt uncomfortable, and thats the way a movie villian should make you feel.

The Loved Ones - 9/10. I usually don't care much for horror stuff anymore, but this one was truly awesome and weird. They even steer their cars from the wrong seat!

High Tension - 7/10
Didn't like the twist or the ending but overall it was good.

It rules, should have won a few more awards that year.

Glad to hear it. The previews all looked boring, too. Of course there's already talk of an Oscar nom...

Have you seen it in 3D yet? It's a bit dodgy in some places, but for the most part, they've done a really good job. Saw it in 3D about a month or so ago and am going to see it again this weekend.

The Debt ~ Had no idea what this film was about - literally just walked in to the cinema and walked into this film. I must've missed out on something as I was a few minutes late, but for about 30mins my friend and I were just trying to work out what exactly the film was about. Decent film though, Mirren is alright, good ending. 7/10.

House of Sand and Fog: 9/10: Re-watched this on cable recently. Its one of those unexpected movies that comes out of nowhere and just kicks your ass. This should have been nominated for Best Picture that year, instead of Master and Commander.

Hobo With A Shotgun. 8.5 outta 10
Bought it months ago and just now convinced the GF to watch it with me. Ridiculous, over the top fun. Awesome.
Btw...after all that, she loved it.

I finally watched all of The Funeral, after a recent thread on it here. I give it like a 7.8 out of 10. I liked all of the characters and the dark themes, even if it was kind of slow in some parts. Great roles from Chris Penn, Christopher Walken, Benecio Del Toro, and the female actors.

50/50 - 8/10. I really liked this movie, lots of funny lines. One of the better films I've seen lately.

Bridesmaids - 4

This album had a few laughs here and there and the soundtrack was decent, but overall it was pretty weak. Too cliche, and kind of unmemorable. It was the female version of the Hangover and that film was average at best.

Batman Dark Night - 8

How a blockbuster movie should be done. It loses a point for the Joker and his lisp. Yeah I know its how it suppose to be but that kind of shit really pisses me off.

Terminator Salvation - 8

Really good. Way better than the third installment. Not too sure why this film got so much shit. Good action scenes, good story line, and solid acting.

Dream House: 5.5/10: Once again, they reveal waaay too much in the preview and it would have helped if they kept some parts under wraps, although they tried to make up with it with another twist on top of it. Probably would have liked it slightly better if I walked in not knowing what it was about via preview. Instead, I was a little annoyed.
It was watchable, but annoying

While I'm on the subject:
Nobody knows how to make good trailers anymore without giving everything away.
Best preview I've ever seen was for The Exorcist. It was short, more like a teaser than anything else, the one where they basically show nothing but the hallway leading to the door or Regan's room - which I thought was friggin' brilliant, by the way - then it cuts to Max Von Sydow at the door - but you can't see him because its in shadow.

Wanna see what happens next? See the Flipping movie!!!!

The tree of life (2011) - 8.5 / 10 - Love all Malick's movies. This one is beautiful and ambitious but also more emotional than his other movies.

I recommend others to watch one of his other movies before watching Tree of life so you're ready for the slow pacing. It's going to turn many people off.

The Taming Of The Shrew - 5/10. Starring Elizabeth Taylor.

Father's Little Dividend - 7/10. Starring Elizabeth Taylor. The sequel to Father Of The Bride.

Ziegfeld Girl - 5/10. Starring Judy Garland and James Stewart.

The Eddy Duchen Story - 5/10. I wouldn't say starring Kim Novak, because she's not in the movie for very long. It starts out fine, but it goes downhill fast. It's pretty boring, but at least it doesn't plod along.

3:10 To Yuma - 9/10

It was very well done. Crowe and Bale were excellent and they had decent back stories on the main characters. The movie progressed at a good rate and there were enough twists to keep it interesting.
