As citizens of supposedly the world's greatest democracy, we do a terrible job of exercising our rights. The highest turnout we've ever had was 63% in 2020. Since 2016 the country is pretty much evenly split ~45-45 with about 8-10% low information dipshits deciding the outcome. Other developed nations routinely have 80-90%. Most people registered to vote do vote however, which is both good and bad - it means that the people who dont vote don't even care enough to register, which in most states is as easy as checkIng a box at the DMV. We're a spoiled, apathetic nation.
It's purposeful and intentional. If people are uninformed then you can get away with telling them anything and they'll believe it.

In North Carolina, gubernatorial candidate Josh Stein (D) got 300,000 more votes than Kamala Harris.
