Knowing - 7/10. Probably one of my favorite Nicholas Cage films. Though the ending of this film annoys me every time I watch it.

Kill List brutal, almost disturbing, violence. But the plot runs thin and the characters aren't likable enough or vile enough to have any redeeming qualities as protagonists or antagonists. 5/10

Oz the Great and Powerful - 6/10. The special effects from the original were better, and that's some 70 years old. Add to that, it's not fucking Snow White. If you've seen it, you know that part didn't belong.

Broken City - 5/10.

Jack Reacher - 7/10. Cruise looks like he's been using Michael Jacksons surgeon. Had some good action in this one though.

Funeral Kings - 7/10.

Ok.. I LOVED this flick!

Visually stunning, classic fairytale, good vs evil with you cheering for the underdog...
The intro and opening scenes looked authentically OLD. Love the color fade in. Love how the story mirrors the original in him seeing reminders of Kansas... and of course where he can actually heal the China Girl. (who, by the way, is a character in the original book The Wizard of Oz)

The lack of high tech effects adds to the classic appeal for me.

Not for everyone... ahem... obviously... but really good.

How can you have seen a film 100 times and still forget little things that crack you up? This movie makes me so happy.

Life of Pi - 7/10

Good film, but I think I was expecting just a bit more from it. I think seeing it in theaters and in 3D would've added to the experience greatly. It was beautifully shot with some really incredible scenes though.

6/10 for me, too. Decent, but not great. Williams was great, as was Braff, Weisz was solid and Franco was decent, although he and Kunis seemed miscast.

And, yeah, the "Snow White"-ish bit was weird, too. It's almost as if Disney requested some kind of Disney tie-in somewhere in the movie.

"The Incredible Burt Wonderstone" - 7/10

"Burt Wonderstone" is surprisingly funny. The performances all around are good, and the gags are good. It has the right amount of laughs and heart. I'm surprised it's gotten as trounced as it has by the critics and IMDb voters.

Last Exorcism 2 : 5/10
The original really surprised me, because I rented it thinking it was gonna suck, but didn't. This sequel, however, is a lot like friggin' Book of Shadows, minus the two hot chicks in it. It was still enjoyable for what it was but a far cry from the first one.

On the rental front:
Life of Pi: 6.5/10
Probably would have been better off watching this on the big screen, but it wasn't that bad on TV. And I would have preferred the 'other' story, if you catch my drift.

Sinister: 7/10
Started out really nice and creepy, but lost a little momentum with a semi-confusing ending, which I kinda figured out later. This kinda reminded me of Last Exorcism in that I wasn't expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised.

Used Cars (1980) - 8/10

I dont know how many years its been since I saw this last but it was on in the middle of the night this weekend and holy crap its still funny. The scene where Jack Warden tries to hit Kurt Russel with a chair and knocks himself down hitting the ceiling instead is gold.

Agree with Caustic Queen, there is no way anyone could have made a movie to stand up to the legend of Wizard of Oz, but this hit all the right notes and had fun doing it. I LOVED the low fi special effects more than anything else in the movie. The transformation to the wicked witch was pure vaudeville and hit the exact right tone.

"You fooled everyone but yourself"

and

"I don't want to be a good man, I want to be a great man"

Belong up there with quotes from Casablanca and gone with the Wind and The Wizard of OZ. Chessy, but spot on to the story.

It's a Disaster - 7/10. The rare comedy that's actually funny. Rachel Boston confuses the hell out of me, though. She's really pretty, yet she's a ginger. What the fuck is going on?

2001 Maniacs 3/10 even Robert Englund couldn't save this piece of shit movie. i seem to be the only one of that opinion though.

Mr. Hush 6.5/10 again, i'm alone in that opinion apparently. a lot of hate out there for this one. yeah, it was slow in places but it had enough of a plot to keep me interested. plus Stephen Geoffreys was hilarious!

Oz the Great and Powerful...James Franco (Oz), Mila Kunis (Theodora), Rachel Weisz (Evanora), Michelle Williams (Annie / Glinda) are the stars...

This aint the Wizard of Oz...but its pretty damn good suprisingly! The effects are pretty cool, especially if you see it in 3D, and I recommend that you do. It is somewhat "dark" in its story-telling, but ultimately comes off as a comedy in some places. The color scheme is simply amazing in portions...mostly in the opening 5-10 minutes in Oz. Character development could be better, but overall it is just a basic re-telling of the Oz story you already know, with enough changes to make it different in a good way.

Overall, I would give it 3.5 on a scale of 5...well worth seeing in the theater as I feel it will lose something when it gets shrunk down to a normal TV screen...
