Great social commentary piece on modern American mainstream pop culture! Thought it would suck, wound up watching it 2 more times before I mailed it back!

Battle Royale - 7/10....I watched this on Netflix after reading some of the ratings/comments on this thread......I thought is was good. Now only if The Hunger Games would have been this violent!!!!
Jack the Giant Slayer - 6.5/10.....entertaining enough.
Marine 3 - 6/10.......actually much better than I expected.

Man of Steel : 6.5/10
Not bad, but the disjointed narrative and ridiculously over-the-top battle sequences for 30-40 minutes grew old real fast.

Young Frankenstein is a classic. "Let me out. Let me out of here. Get me the hell out of here. What's the matter with you people? I was joking! Don't you know a joke when you hear one?"

Beautiful Creatures- 6/10 Coulda been a great movie, but it just meandered around and I walked off twice. Bit of a snooze. The best part was it was set in South Carolina. go cocks!
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Gangster Squad-DVD
2/10
Figured with an all-star cast this film would have been above average or
maybe very good.
WRONG!
Sean Penn over-acted
James Brolin added nothing to the character.
Very boring film. No reason for this movie
to get the green light and released nationwide.

Mayor of the Sunset Strip - 6/10. Documentary about Rodney Bingenheimer that's kind of entertaining for all the rocknroll royalty (Kim Fowley for instance), but you're left still not giving a fuck about some radio douche.

White House Down - 7/10. Terrorists take over the White House. Jamie Foxx didn't strike me as being Presidential at all, would have done better with someone older. CGI was spotty. Still, better than Olympus Has Fallen, the other 'terrorists take over the White House' film from earlier this year.

World War Z: NA/10
I didn't rate this one, because I walked out of it three quarters of the way through. At least they had the Z part right, because I found myself nodding off a couple of times at the start of this. Maybe its just me, but zombie movies really bore the hell out of me. Anyway, I really tried to hang in there til the end, but after Mr. Pitt survived a plane crash, my suspension of disbelief finally broke. I headed to the bathroom and never returned.
... Usually in these cases, I usually just walk into another movie, but I just left because nothing else really grabbed me.
On the DVD front
Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Beatnicks 9/10
I dusted this one off from my collection recently. One of the most underrated MST3K episodes ever. Peter Breck is awesome in this one. "I'm gonna moon ya, man. I'm gonna moon ya."

Haute Tension ("High Tension" 2003) - 6/10. Nasty French horror movie with awesome gore. The story is really inane and random, though, if you care about such shit.
You seem to make really smart choices when it comes to spending money on movies then.Hurls34 wrote:Maybe its just me, but zombie movies really bore the hell out of me.
