La Rafle (2010) - 7/10. Historical drama about the French police raid in 1942 to round up the jews at the Vélodrome d'Hiver before shipping them off to camps. Jean Reno is really good and Mélanie Laurent is really pretty so even I had no problems with suspension of disbelief about the whole holocaust lie. The Führer impersonator kind of sucked, though. I'm sure that's why I cried in the end.

Was planning to see this tonight ....now im having second thoughtsratt_gang_member wrote:Pretty spot on review. I saw this on Sunday. I'd probably rate it a 6.5, though. Not terrible.Indy_Rob wrote:A Most Violent Year - 3/10
Great acting but painfully boring. This gets the award for most misleading title ever. This movie was so devoid of violence that the name is almost a joke. I've seen Disney movies with more violence. I went into it expecting a top notch gangster movie a la Goodfellas, but this is nothing like that. Nothing happens in this movie at all. I kept waiting for SOMETHING to happen and it never did. Good acting couldn't save this snorefest.

Savages (2012) - 5/10. Dumb crime flick entirely made up of drug cartel clichés. Benicio Del Toro is awesome, John Travolta is bald and Salma Hayek is hot. The rest is abysmal, especially Blake Lively. She might be even more annoying than Megan Fox.

Get On Up. 7/10
Pretty much covered the same stuff as that documentary with a bit more focus on his childhood and also his friendship with Bobby Bird. Chadwick Bosenan did a great job as James Brown ( same dude from '42').

Super Duper Alice Cooper - 5/10
Disappointing, to be sure. A ton of rare stuff to be seen here, but it felt strange to have no face-to-face interviews for the entire run of the movie. And to stop at the '86 comeback show...I was left wanting much, much more. Good stuff here, but they left SO much out that I wanted to know about, i.e. The Hollywood Vampires, etc. At it's core, it was the story of his alcohol and freebasing addictions.
22 Jump Street - 8/10
Stupid. Trite. Poorly made. First ten minutes were painfully unfunny. The rest of the movie? I laughed like a maniac. So...
Fury - 6/10
Gritty armored warfare. Beautifully shot. Not sure what the point of this movie was, though. The characters were cardboard cutouts, burning corpses in and on tanks triggered my ptsd like a motherfucker, and there's a lot a sacrifices made to tell the story at the expense of their vaunted "realism"...like a panzerfaust piercing the hull of a Sherman and only killing the loader. I get that it's a movie and all, but if you're going for authentic, go for believable, too.

Agree 100%
I was under the impression this was an awesome movie.
I was wrong.
Seemed to go on and on and nowhere at the same time.

This Is Where I Leave You - 7/10. Total drama with Jane Fonda, Tina Fey, Adam Driver, and Jason Bateman. Dad dies, dysfunctional family comes home. Nothing new, yet solid enough. Also has Kathryn Hahn in it, but she was practically ignored. Shame, cause I like her a lot.
Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day - 6/10. Kid movie. Basically kid with bad luck wishes his luck on everyone else, and gets his wish. Family spends a zillion dollars on his birthday party and all ends well. Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner.
American Heist - 4/10. I watched the whole thing, and never even realized the main actor was Hayden Christiansen, aka Anakin Skywalker. It's on par with his Star Wars movies though as just shit. Brother comes home from prison, and gets his younger brother involved in a bank robbery. Skip it.

The Perfect Host (2010) - 7/10. Pretty cool twisty thriller with Frasier's brother as a psycho serial killer, or not.
Thor (2011) - 2/10. Worst shit ever. I don't know why I even tried.

I thought this was a great movie.
Have you seen the movie with Michael Caine and Jude Law.
The name escapes me right now.
Just the 2 of them in the whole movie.
Detective maybe?
TPH somewhat reminded me of that.
Both good flicks.

Dracula Untold (2014): 4/10
This is the tween version of Vlad the Impaler's story, and it should have remained untold. Or at least unseen by me.
