Travesty in the remaking.

Coup de torchon (1981) - 7/10:
A bullied cop at a West African village in 1938 goes off the deep end and starts killing all the corrupt French people that piss him off. And it's basically a black comedy. This movie is like no other.

Au revoir les enfants: Goodbye Children (1987) - 7/10:
Another Vichy flick, playing at a Christian boarding school for boys that was hiding a bunch of Jewish students. Not a feelgood movie.

La mariée était en noir / The Bride Wore Black (1968) - 5/10:
Pretty disappointing for a Truffaut movie. I guess this was supposed to be his Hitchcock piece. I hate to say even Kill Bill did better with that plot. And Jeanne Moreau was past her prime here too.

Poor Gary...
Never knew it was a remake of a jewish film. They didn't think it became a hit because of it's downer ending.

I think this is just a bad rumor that will never come to fruition. But don't hold me to that.

The Night Before

Went to an advanced screening the other night

8/10

Funny film and this is coming from someone who dislikes
Seth Rogen with a passion. I liked the clever references to other
XMas movies.

Spectre - 6

Pretty mediocre film that went on for too long. It was also very cliche, which is to be expected in a James Bond film I guess. But it was overkill in this one.

It was pretty obvious the C character was going to be part of the conspiracy with spectre.

The guy playing Blofeld was not good at all. The guy playing Q was weak. M was okay. Moneypenny was decent.

I've only seen two Daniel Craig James Bonds, and I don't rate him at all.

Maybe 6 is being generous.

Warlock III: End of Innocense. Crappy direct to video sequel could have easily fit sci fi channel format. A couple of nude kinky sex scenes but nothing worth seeking out. 4/10

The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond (2008) - 6/10:
Watched for the original screenplay by Tennesse Williams. Underwhelming. Bryce Dallas Howard rocks, but she couldn't make this great either. Ann-Margret is ancient.

The Villain (1979) - 6/10:
This is so over-the-top stupid it's almost awesome. It's basically a real life Western version of a Wile E. Coyote cartoon. Starring Kirk Douglas, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Ann-Margret. How could that not work?

Sunday in New York (1963) - 6/10:
Lame mistaken identity comedy. Young Jane Fonda is hot in it.

It's called acting. Heath Ledger and Jake did it in Brokeback Mountain.

If I Stay (2014) - 4/10:
I adore Chloe Grace Moretz, but this shit sucked.

52 Pick-Up (1986) - 6/10:
80s as fuck. Ann-Margret, Kelly Preston, Vanity, all hot. Porn star cameos, crappy music, senseless plot. Perfect braindead thriller.

L'Enfer (1994) - 6/10:
>90s Chabrol sucks. Emmanuelle Béart is hot.

Contempt / Le mépris (1963) - 5/10:
Worst Godard ever. Master piece, my ass. Fuck Bardot too.

Upside Down (2012) - 5/10:
Nice premise, shitty story. Nothing makes sense. Would have made for nice science-fiction, turned out a shitty chick flick. Kirsten Dunce looks weirdly hot.

Bram Stoker's Dracula (Francis Ford Coppola).
I give it a solid "A".
Glad I finally saw it.
The narrative is a mess, but... the photography and the tone are both completely unique.
It really does feel like another time and place.

No Escape (John Erick Dowdle) starring Owen Wilson and Lake Bell.
B+
This was a solid "kill or be killed" movie. It didn't feel cheap. It didn't just feel like a two hour episode of 24. The whole thing was extremely tense and very cinematic. It's better than you think.

I can watch this one over and over. The definitive version of Dracula, in my opinion. I mean, I'm a huge fan of Hammer's films, but Stoker, they're not.

Diamonds Are Forever - 6/10. Even as a Connery Bond film, this might be one of the best worst ever. Great and yet awfully written all at the he same time.

I give 7/10. It was good, but a lot was left out. But I guess it would have to be, so it wouldn't be a documentary-like movie.

Demons (1985) - 8/10:
Total classic by Lamberto Bava (produced by Argento), can't believe I've never seen this before. Probably the best Italian horror movie I know. It's got it all: over-the-top 80s characters, colorful gore, corny monsters, and a soundtrack with Mötley Crüe, Accept, Saxon, Pretty Maids etc. And personally for me the coolest sets ever, because it takes place at a theater in Berlin, literally 200m down the street from where I grew up.

Before I Go to Sleep (2014) - 7/10:
Memento type plot with Nicole Kidman. Lots of twists and shit, kind of lame ending.

Les félins / Joy House (1964) - 6/10:
French film noir with Alain Delon and Jane Fona as a nympho nun or something.

Period of Adjustment (1962) - 6/10:
Again young-ass Jane Fonda in old-timey comedy. Terribly dated but charming nonetheless.
