Häjyt / The Tough Ones (1999) - 8/10:
Best Finnish movie I've seen, not counting Kaurismäki. Two loveable losers get out of prison and try to reclaim their lives raising hell in some backwater town, failing to stay legit in a society that has no need for them, and ultimately taking up the family's traditional bootlegging operation. This is both hilarious and incredibly sad. Plus, they look like this:

Gravity (2013) - 7/10:
I thought this was some sort of "hard Sci-Fi" movie, but whatever you want to call it, it was pretty original. Not much opportunity for Sandra Bullock to just be hot, but we'll always have Demolition Man.

Manderlay (2005) - 7/10:
Lars von Trier's sequel to Dogville, which I really liked. This falls short, although it's still a good movie on its own. I really don't get why he felt the need to use the same idea twice. Also thought the "moral of the story" was rather ham-fisted, unless I'm missing some ambiguous deeper message. Bonus points for Bryce Dallas Howard getting fucked, though.

Surf Nazis Must Die (1987) - 5/10:
Always expected this to be the definitive Troma movie. It probably looks the coolest, but it was mostly just boring as hell. Sgt. Kabukiman, still undefeated.

That was filmed in Kauhava, which is most famous for its knives and knifefighters. My mother's side of the family is from there and I spent a lot of time there as a kid. That movie is pretty accurate in many ways.

Awesome! How come you didn't aspire to grow up to become Puukkojunkkari? That seems like a tragically wasted career opportunity.

I Saw The Light

As a huge Hank Williams Sr. fan I give it a 7/10. As a stand alone movie it was probably a 6 or 5. Tom Hiddleston (Loki) did a fantastic job playing Hank Williams and really brought him to life onscreen. The movie, overall, lacked substance though. Not as bad as I thought, and the performances were well done by Hiddleston.

Just got back from seeing this.

I'm gonna say 5.5/10

I swear I almost fell asleep 3 X S during the first hour or so.

I didn't think anybody was bad as far as acting, I just thought the movie was boring as fuck.

"San Andreas" - 6/10

This would have gotten a 5/10 which is what I normally award sub-par movies that have some redeeming qualities. Dwayne Johnson wasn't awful per se, but they gave him 3 or 4 SUUUUUPER cheesy one liners that just made you laugh out loud (or throw up in your mouth a little).
- "What are we gonna do?! We're gonna go save our little girl!"
- "We will rebuild..."

I will admit that they hit you over the head with some intense scenes that never let up. Paul Giamatti can do no wrong in anything that he's in. The saving grace however...this movie helped me discover Alexandra Daddario. Good....LORD. Those cans! And possibly the most piercing eyes in Hollywood. Worth the cheese and the 2 hours of guilty pleasure viewing.

Looks like I'm going to have to binge-watch True Detective...

Prisoners (2013) - 8/10:
I hate thrillers, I hate mystery, I hate cop bullshit, I hate Huge Ackman or what's his fucking face, I hate Jake Gyllenhaal and his Swedish mother. So, this must have been pretty good.

Subway (1985) - 6/10:
Ultra 80s nonsense Luc Besson movie (before he turned shit) with the Highlander and Léon the Professional. Isabelle Adjani is kinda hot in it. The soundtrack is the shit.

Knock Knock (2015) - 6/10:
Eli Roth is a joke, but this was pretty entertaining. Two super hot, half-naked bitches torture Keanu Reeves in his most ridiculously shitty acting role ever. That's literally all that happens for 90 minutes.

Broadway Therapy (2014) - 4/10:
I probably watched this to see Imogen Poots or some bitch. It's pretty terrible. Unless you're a faggot who loves crappy Woody Allen screwball rip-off bullshit. Then you'll love this. It's like some cheesy Marilyn Monroe comedy without the nostalgia or curves.

Saw the film last night for the first time. I give the movie a 5/10
Lackluster. Luke appears in the movie at the very, very end. Never says a word but the viewer is supposed to get excited about the scene? I don't think so.
I understand that Finn and Rey had to be the main focus of the story and having Luke appear at the very end sets up the next film, but I found the movie
predictable and slow many times. Han is killed by his son. Someone who looks like a cross between Nic Cage and Nick Simmons

Seen loads of people who saw this movie as a modern day re-make of A New Hope. I know people will try to pick it apart for lots of reasons. But the experience of seeing it was like I was 5 years old seeing the first film with my parents. It was a very well made movie. JJ Abrams knows how to make these films appeal to old and new fans just like with his reboot of the Star Trek films. He knows the right balance of action, drama and humor.

However......enjoy this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vs3sVrm_W4o
