Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Legend - a pretty terrible version of the Kray twins, who were famous gangsters in London back in the 60s. It starred Tom Hardy. I didn't like how he played Ron, but his Reg was okay. It included key points in their story, but the continuity of the film was bad. A 3 out of 10.
The one from 1990 starring the two brothers from Spandau Ballet was far far better.
No escape starring Owen Wilson. Owen Wilson plays a serious role where he is the middle of a hostile takeover in a Far East country. A key reason why they are rebelling is due to Americans coming over and taking over the water company. Owen Wilson is a part of that, although he thinks he is going over to do good!
Basically it is about him and his family surviving. He gets some help from Pierce Brosnan who plays the part of a retired James Bond!
I'll give it a 6 out of 10.

All About Steve (2009) been waiting years to see this one with Sandra Bullock, Bradley Cooper. Fun movie 7/10
Spectre (2015) Daniel Craig. Good Bond movie maybe 30 minutes to long and with probably the weakest Bond Girls ever, Bellucci is way too old and lea Seydoux is just way to plain looking , pretty cool to see Dave Bautista from the wwe in it 7.5/10, oh and the song was just awful

Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2015)
Watched only cause of Henry Cavill. Fantastic clothing and the locations were gorgeous. Visually, the movie was delightful. Plot was rather silly. I assume they audience they were aiming for has never seen the highly superior TV series of the same name.

Re: Rate the last movie you saw
"Sully" - 7/10
Very solid movie, lean and efficient and workmanlike at just over 90 minutes. Tells a straightforward, but immersive version of what happened with Sully. Hanks plays the part well despite not really looking like Sully, and Eastwood stages the flight/crash stuff really concisely. It won't stand out as a career best for anyone, but it's good.
"The Light Between Oceans" - 5/10
I wanted to like this more. I heard the book was great and I like Derek Cianfrance's first two movies, and this one has a very good cast, but the drama turned into melodrama and either Cianfrance or the editor undercut as lot of the dramatic moments. Some of the logic that goes into the plot points isn't crafted in a way that makes you believe people would actually come to those ludicrous conclusions.

Held my interest. I like that it looks filmed it in 70's color.

It's a good thing CEOs are rarely assholes, otherwise you'd be living in the woods eating grubs and berries.theglammerthebetter wrote:Steve Jobs (2015) Michael Fassbender, Kate Winslet, Seth Rogen, Jeff Daniels, That guy was a major asshole, kinda glad i never owner/bought/used an Apple product in my life still its a good movie 8/10

I did that. I could see how it wouldnt have rewatchability, but I thought it was at least a 7.5/10, especially as it was probably made for $766.
It has 4.6/10 in Imdb, so maybe i'm an outlier.

The Tour That Never Ends - Documentary on GNR touring until they break even. This is about failing diplomacy, propaganda, people that misjudge situations at cost of many lives. There is no "action", just talking.

Blair Witch. It's the 3,353rd horror movie I've seen, and by far one of the freakiest. Is it anything new? No, not really, but there's some truly nightmarish shit going on. http://splattercritic.com/2016/09/blair-witch/

Re: Rate the last movie you saw
I watched a handful of 90s films that I had either never seen or hadn't seen in 15 years.
Natural Born Killers (1994) 5/10- This movie is really a mess. The premise is interesting and I think it could have worked if Oliver Stone 1) Didn't shoot with eight different formats, 2) Didn't cut every two seconds and 3) Didn't tell every actor in the film to overact. I understand that these three creative decisions are supposed to give a sense of hyperreality, but it just becomes boring after the first 90 minutes. This also started the Oliver Stone Rule of Thumb: Any script where Stone did not have a hand in writing the original story turns out to be substandard. This includes most of his films after The Doors.
Strange Days (1995) 3/10- Boring as hell. The desexualization of Angela Bassett was irritating. With all of Hollywood's supposed liberalism, they were still scared to death of having interracial love scenes. Bassett's black klugie is practically gushing for Ralph Fiennes but she's treated as a plot prop. And like all science fiction James Cameron films, it steals liberally from other science fiction writers. Not as bad as those no-talent Matrix brothers, but damn near.
Eyes Wide Shut (1999) 8/10- This is really an excellent film. I rarely get frightened by watching a horror movie, but the scene where Tom Cruise is brought before the sex cult's faux court is horrifying. That chromatic piano music freezes my blood. There is nothing supernatural, but all the secrecy, deception, and intrigue in the film rises to the level of a supernatural evil. It's the same feeling I get when I watch political thrillers like Klute or The Parallax View or JFK.
