Amy

7.5/10. Amy Winehouse movie. It was good from a musical perspective and gave you an inside look into her personal life with lots of videos. She was really a raw talent and a unique individual and more than the drug addicted maniac the press made her out to be.

Unknown (2011) - 7/10. Twisty thriller stuff. Diane Krüger is really not as hot as people think. She also does a piss-poor Balkan accent.

Komodo vs. Cobra (2005) - 5/10. I don't know if all of these shitty creature movies are this terrible/awesome, but I kind of enjoyed this. It really looks like porn without fucking.

I watched some old VHS tapes with my father this past weekend because we were supervising some repairs to a house he owns in San Antonio.

Barfly (1987)- 7/10- Mickey Rourke movie where he plays Charles Bukowski. I think the film is pretty good but my Dad said it was shit. I asked him, "How can the movie be shit when I heard you laugh 15+ times during the course of it?" I never understood people who make excuses for liking something.

Christopher Columbus: The Discovery (1992)- 5/10- I saw this at the movie theater when I was 10 years old and thought it was good. We watched it and it was like a glorified TV movie. The idiot producers spent millions on hiring Marlon Brando, Tom Selleck and Rachel Ward to play cameo parts and the script and direction is barely above a 40s B Movie.

Frantic (1988)- 6/10- Roman Polanski movie where Harrison Ford and his wife go to Paris and his wife disappears for unknown reasons. It's mildly entertaining, mostly because Emmanuelle Seigner, Polanski's current wife, is the lead and she's one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen.

I didn't plan on watching this flick but finally gave in because of Pike.

Gone Girl 6.5 of 10 - I love Rosamund Pike but really hate Ben Affleck, annoyingly hate so because of that I dug the movie and how it came together.

Worst of the bunch.

Expendables 3 - 5/10

I will say Antonio Banderas killed me, the best of show. I dug his role so much it's probably the reason I kept watch.

Maybe I'll watch it again, sometimes I don't give shows a chance or I'm interrupted but I had a hard time watching this one with the whole younger crew and shit. I didn't like the cast.

Coonskin - Ralph Bakshi really could create comic art on film that falls somewhere in between cool and crap - this one is somewhere in between. Is it blatantly racist, is it a warning tale on the then modern society( 1975 ), is it pseudo porn.... all the above? Probably. Surprised he didn't get knifed back in the day. 5/10

The Conjuring (2013) - 4/10.

Far cry from the reviews I've seen. This was so fucking generic and lame. There's no pay-off, the movie is slow as fuck, and it has this gay-ass Christian vibe to boot. Absolutely sucks as a horror movie. It's like an episode of 7th Heaven where Reverend childfucker performs a half-assed exorcism and Jessica Biel isn't hot. Blech.

Breaking the Girls (2013) - 5/10.

Basically a shitty Wild Things rip-off. Agnes Bruckner and Kate Levering are hot in it. There's this lesbian triangle with some other boobhooker I know from Californication. Everything else sucks.

Is that the one that "Annabelle" was supposed to be a prequel to?

It Follows - the score was cool, very 70's/80's style that definitely helped the creepy factor in an otherwise not scary film. First 15min were cool, after that it was a one trick pony. Might be as overhyped as Babadook as the "best horror film in years". 6/10

Yellowbrickroad (2010) - 6/10. Low-budget indy horror with some good ideas and pretty great atmosphere, but it ultimately fails in a Blair Witch Project kinda way and leaves you feeling cheated.

Nurse 3D (2013) - 3/10. Even if you pretend this was deliberately made as a horror parody (I doubt it), it pretty much sucks. Katrina Bowden is hot in it and Paz de la Huerta is, at least, naked more often than not. I'm not sure if she's really the worst actress of all time, genuinely retarded, or just fucking with her directors.

Don't know that one, but it starts and ends with a stupid doll called "Annabelle", so probably.

Ant-Man! 8/10

Kinda like the first Iron Man movie without all the RDJ fast talking but more heart. Plus it's also been way too long since a big budget shrinking movie. Great effects, great humor and just enough connectors to the MCU to get everyone excited for Civil War next year.

BONUS: Michael Peña should narrate everything.

Echo this, took my 4th old daughter, we both loved it.
AGREED... take your kids, take your nieces, neighbors, etc... take 'em all.
Loved this one.

Mungo Lake.

I've seen it a number of times and am still seeing things I missed. Interesting Australian film. Not quite horror at all, or a thriller. It's a quiet film if that makes sense. The closest I can come to is "Picnic at Hanging Rock".

Agreed. And very refreshing to have a superhero movie that wasn't "OMG the whole city/country/world is going to be destroyed!" Well thought out story and well told. Michael Douglas was also really good and had a bigger role than iI expected, too. And that clip after the credits end ROCKED!

Låt den rätte komma in / Let the Right One In (2008) - 9/10.

I had read about this movie being great so often I was sure it more or less sucks. Wrong. It's awesome, and I feel almost as gay as for liking The Notebook right now. Then again, although hardly real horror, it's no sappy romantic movie either. Pretty unique vibe. Utterly Swedish. Still can't believe I like it. I'm even tempted to watch the remake now.

Neighbors (2014) - 6/10.

Really not as bad as people make it out to be. Just mindless entertainment like all the other Seth Rogen shit. Even that ex Justin Bieber faggot is pretty funny.

This Property Is Condemned (1966) 6/10- I watched this on TCM tonight. Despite having a lot of good actors (Robert Redford, Charles Bronson, Kate Reid) a script by Francis Ford Coppola and direction by Sydney Pollack, the film is barely a mediocrity. The reason I gave it such a high score is the incredible beauty and sex appeal of Natalie Wood. I watched it almost like I would a porno film in that any frame which did not involve Natalie Wood onscreen was simply ignored.

3-Headed Shark Attack (2015): 6/10

I had Syfy's Sharknado Week on all day yesterday. This was the last movie I watched (I had to DVR Zombie Shark, which I'll watch tonight maybe), and I'm a bit torn. On the plus side, the shark itself was phenomenal. Way above and beyond normal Syfy standards. Also, Danny Trejo. W00t! I hate to spoil anything but the homage to Samuel L. Jackson in Deep Blue Sea, though obvious, was nice. However... the ham-handed attempt to add a "green" lesson to a Syfy film pisses me off to no end. I don't watch these movies to be lectured about the dangers of pollution. Just show me mutated sharks eating people and STFU about your causes.

Southpaw
*Attended an advanced screening last night*
8/10
Jake's best movie IMO is "End Of Watch". If you have not seen the movie, go do that right away.
"Southpaw" was shot so well and the fight scenes looked very legit. I would be surprised if Jake was not giving and taking real punches.
Rachel(his wife) was so fine. Without giving anything away, she stole some scenes.
Movie would have been better with another ending.
Not better than Rocky or Raging Bull, but still a very strong film with terrific boxing sequences.
