Trump releases 2005 tax info ahead of report

The White House says President Donald Trump made more than $150 million in income in 2005 and paid $38 million in income taxes that year.

The acknowledgment comes as MSNBC host Rachel Maddow says she has obtained part of Trump’s 2005 tax forms.

The White House is pushing back preemptively, saying that publishing those returns would be illegal.

It says, ‘‘You know you are desperate for ratings when you are willing to violate the law to push a story about two pages of tax returns from over a decade ago.’’

The White House adds that it is ‘‘totally illegal to steal and publish tax returns’’ and is bashing the ‘‘dishonest media.’’

Trump refused to release his tax returns during the campaign, claiming he was under audit.

The move came after Maddow said she obtained Trump’s 2005 tax documents, and that she would talk about them on her show tonight at 9 p.m.

David Cay Johnston, a 2001 Pulitzer-winning veteran investigative reporter specializing in tax and finance issues, tweeted that he will appear on Maddow’s show to “break a big story about Trump and his taxes.”

People always try to instill fear in older people (because they have money). Old people of any political leaning fall for these scams, it's not a right wing thing. Buy Gold/Silver commercials on Fox News or wherever are just fear ads that get people to invest with them. Funny thing is they often put them in a model primarily invested in the market.
