Speaking of wanting a seat at the table, Doug Jones is already pissing people off by saying he thinks Congress should move on from Trump's sexual allegations. I've no doubt he'll be better than Moore would have been, but this certainly isn't the best way to start things off.

Is Doug Jones really ready for this?
Who runs as a democrat in Alabama and expects to win? No one. He ran for every reason that did not include becoming a United States Senator. Now he has to move to Washington.
He just might be shitting his pants.

No, I don't think so. He was a prosecutor against one of the Birmingham Church Bombers. In Alabama. And got a conviction. He's not "shitting his pants". I think some uber purists on the left are, though. Jones is being a Senator from Alabama and saying things the purity nannies hate. Manchin is more his model, not Sanders or Merkley.Kiss Crue wrote:Is Doug Jones really ready for this?

Oh ha! I am reading about an old murder case (one of those rabbit holes one can fall down on the internet). From 1994 or so, the murder-suicide of one of the suspects and his wife...from his note:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/ ... 8d2964da95
"During the past few years, I warned him against dealing with shady characters, but he was always intrigued by an under-the-table deal to make a fast buck," Stanley D. Hyman said in a suicide note released yesterday.
Hyman wrote that he had told Kowalczyk that "he {Kowalczyk} was neither Donald Trump nor related to an organized crime figure of stature -- and it was one hell of a lot better to be broke than dead." But, he said, Kowalczyk only laughed.

And that's why I've avoided this thread for the most part because it's just a shit dumping echo chamber of Russia truther nonsense, bounced off the walls repeatedly. I'll make arguments in separate Trump threads and like clockwork, the conspiratorial idiots will run to the fucking hills once I chime in. I was one of the most critical anti-Trumper's last year and foolishly thought he had no chance to win. But he did and I accepted it, and I accepted that I was dead wrong on how I perceived the electorate. But now you have a media, Deep State, and Democratic Party cabal misleading the American public to get rid of this guy for the wrong reasons. Reasons being phoney McCarthyite Russia fearmongering that doesn't exist.
He could be impeached tomorrow for war crimes on Syria, but every center left Democratic Party hack supported those strikes. GOP too

A US investment fund manager was being interviewed on the BBC this morning. He was asked whether this repatriated money would be going into product development and company growth. He totally avoided the question - he and anyone with half an ounce of sense knows it'll go into more wages, bonuses and stock options for the CEOs.Kiss Crue wrote:The stock market is flying. First and foremost corps need to grow and be profitable. You can't do this without investment. Investment in people, marketing, infrastructure, capital equipment, etc...GoodJudge wrote:A US investment fund manager was being interviewed on the BBC this morning. Additional funds will go everywhere...yes some will go to management salary (ensuring the co has the ability to hire/keep the best and brightest is a practical concern) and it will also go into other resources like people.
I don't really understand the us vs them mentality. Surely all you people understand the biggest benefits are going to large publicly traded companies that all of you have the ability to invest in? No one is stopping you from sharing in the massive amount of winning going on.

People who actually have a stake in the economy, ie people who actually invest eg: business owners. shareholders, those who generate the most tax revenue (ie the rich and the corps ) ertc,,, are very happy with the republican economic mandates.
People who contribute nothing and buy themselves computers and spend time out of their workday calling Kiss Crue a condescending fuck do not think they are getting a fair shake!

Yes, people who already have money and enough of it to do with it what they please. The extreme minority of people. That's literally everyone's problem with it. These tax laws are enacted specifically to further the riches of the people that already have riches and to limit the ability of those who don't to get there. Your argument is basically "you're not already rich, so you're worthless to your country. Maybe you should, uh, just not be poor anymore. Give these corrupt bureaucrats your money by investing in their corrupt, greedy businesses and they'll totally help you in return." As if that's the only viable system.
People who contribute nothing and buy themselves computers and spend time out of their workday calling Kiss Crue a condescending fuck do not think they are getting a fair shake!
You're equating the poor as worthless, lazy and entitled. You're welcome to think what you like, but you do know that that's over 90% of the country, right? So you're fine with 2% making rules for themselves and just expecting the 98% to get fucked. That's not democracy or what this country is supposed to have been founded for. Also, what I do with my money is none of your or Uncle Sam's concern, and the fact that I want to keep more of what I earn to do with it as I please is MY concern. And your continued assertion that the poor are lazy and entitled smacks of your inability to understand the situation, rendering a conversation like this moot. But I'm used to wasting my time.

Again, your argument is that I, lazy piece of shit that I am, should just give more of my money to these good, clean, rich people and hope that they give me more of it back. People can hardly afford to feed their children and yet, they should invest in the stock market because MAYBE, EVENTUALLY, YEARS LATER, they could POSSIBLY make some money off of it. "Just give us your money, little peon, and we'll totally watch it for you, and that's the only system that should ever be." Whether people can afford the occasional luxury isn't the point. It's my money and I can do with it as I please. What I please is not giving it to folks who already have it so they can use it to continue to fuck everyone else in the ass.
You're not part of the entitled bourgeoisie although you do benefit greatly from the trickle down of their sperm down your back.
Anyway, I've seen you go round and round with people about this, and you're thick as fuck, so I'm not getting drawn into it. I concede. I'mma be over here being poor and lazy.

Yes, since we are subject to propaganda, please enlighten us with the correct breakdown of the taxes. Y'know, since all you do in this thread is criticize and then go back to lurking again, share with us your wisdom on these tax cuts and break them down so us dumb rubes can understand why/how they're going to put this country back on the right track. I have a feeling that you'll chicken out again.
