Has Trump even acknowledged failing on his campaign promise to have Mexico pay for the wall? "You campaigned and won based on having Mexico pay for the wall. Now that you have failed on your campaign promise to have Mexico pay for it why should the American people have to pay for it?"

You must have missed the change in the fine print on his campaign promise.cowpins wrote: ↑Wed Dec 12, 2018 10:57 am Has Trump even acknowledged failing on his campaign promise to have Mexico pay for the wall? Now the US is going to pay to build it and get Mexico to pay for it through NAFTA.
“The Wall will be paid for, directly or indirectly, or through longer term reimbursement, by Mexico, which has a ridiculous $71 billion dollar trade surplus with the U.S., The $20 billion dollar Wall is ‘peanuts’ compared to what Mexico makes from the U.S. NAFTA is a bad joke!”
The key phrase is 'directly or indirectly.' He said in an interview: "You know, we make a good deal on NAFTA, say I’m going to take a small percentage of that money and it’s going to go toward the wall. Guess what? Mexico’s paying.”
In his mind, NAFTA has been tweaked in ways he likes now so the result, he assumes, will be increased trade with our southern neighbors. The increased trade will translate into increased revenue.
Therefore, as he sees it, when he spends the American taxpayer's money on a wall, he’s really just redirecting the profits from the increased trade he hopes will eventually materialize. Kind of a pyramid scheme of sorts.
Americans will put up the billions for the project, under the White House plan, but we’ll kinda sorta pay ourselves back, slowly and incrementally, by way of Mexican trade.
In his backwards assed way, Mexico will 'pay for' his wall.

Funny. I was writing Trumps response above as you were writing that. Sounds about right.

Also, buried in the lead was the meat market, excuse me, the Miss Teen Universe pageant. Creepy fuck. But then remember, in a comment on Jeffrey Epstein, some years before Epstein got busted. From New York magazine in 2002::
"I've known Jeff for fifteen years. Terrific guy,'' Trump booms from a speakerphone. "He's a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side. No doubt about it -- Jeffrey enjoys his social life."

it's something
Senate rebukes Trump, condemns Saudi crown prince for Khashoggi murder
Washington (CNN) — The Senate on Thursday passed a resolution condemning Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, ratcheting up pressure on President Donald Trump who has aligned himself with the Saudi kingdom in the aftermath of the brutal killing.
Just prior to passing the resolution by a voice vote, the Senate also overwhelmingly approved a resolution by a 56-41 vote that would require the US to end its military support for the Saudi-led war in Yemen, a move aimed both at ending that war and expressing anger at the Trump administration's handling of relations with Saudi Arabia.
All told, it amounted to the most significant break within Congress toward Saudi Arabia in decades -- and the firmest response from Capitol Hill since the Khashoggi murder in October. But Republican leaders in the House may put a halt to the push and ultimately side with Trump.
The vote on the Yemen resolution reflected the frustration senators from parties have with the vast human suffering from the war and President Donald Trump's embrace of the crown prince despite widely accepted evidence from US intelligence agencies that he ordered the killing of Khashoggi.
The resolution condemning the crown prince, introduced by Republican Sen. Bob Corker of Tennessee, serves as an implicit rebuke of the President's own response to the death of Khashoggi and is one of several legislative efforts to target the crown prince and the Trump administration's policy toward Saudi Arabia.

What I'm hearing now is that the southern district of New York has charges ready to go for Trump. So the moment he's no longer the president, he's going to face the law. I generally hesitate to be super optimistic about these political matters, but over the past few weeks things finally really seem to be unraveling for the man.

What if the military force sides with the Trumptards, though? I've noticed the possibility that half or more of Trump's supporters are military men or vets, so suppose they use their own military force to defend Spanky against the libruls?Luminiferous wrote: ↑Sat Dec 15, 2018 8:53 amHey look at it this way, it will finally be entertaining to watch those shit talking faux patriot chickenhawks being led by General Ped Nugent finally face up to a military force and how quickly they run away when their Confederate flags get a few bullet holes in them and they start throwing off their MAGA hats on their way back to the double wide...dmbrocker wrote: ↑Sat Dec 15, 2018 7:08 amUnfortunately, I think that could be just the beginning if whole patriot militias of armed Trumptards march upon DC in his defense.TenBenny wrote: ↑Fri Dec 14, 2018 11:09 pm What I'm hearing now is that the southern district of New York has charges ready to go for Trump.
