To be fair, I heard him say "Okay, I'll do it. What do you want me to call them?"

Wallace repeated and Trump said "Proud Boys, stand back and stand by." Which just sounds like he wants them to stay armed and wait for some kind of go-ahead.

For a second, I was like "Oh shit! He's calling out the Proud Boys!," then I was like "Oh. He's pretty much doing the opposite."

Everything Trump is involved in turns to shit. This thing had no chance of being anything but what it was. Put researched facts in his face and he denies them. Ask him the easiest two softballs (disavow white supremacists and accept election results) and he CAN'T FUCKING give the right answers.

How does this debate change anything? Everybody knows Trump is a lying delusional idiot and everybody knows Biden is not a great speaker. Everybody knows the boat is leaking, everybody knows the captain lied.

The takeaway I'm getting is NOBODY seemed to enjoy watching it. Trump came across as insane, Biden came across as weak.

Where I think Trump lost his edge was by hammering the "radical left" thing and forcing Biden to come out and say he doesn't support the Green New Deal or Medicare for All, leaving Trump to say "You just lost the radical left." HE NEVER HAD THEM TO BEGIN WITH. Instead, he allowed Biden to look moderate, which shoots a big hole in Trump's entire campaign strategy: Present Joe Biden as a radical.

Then Trump was tossed his one softball of the night--Wallace otherwise hammered him pretty hard--when asked if he would condemn white supremacists and he whiffed.

But Trump's the more aggressive speaker, and the Dems somehow picked the one person on this planet less articulate than Trump. I think Trump's numbers are probably going to go up and the commanding leads Biden had are going to shrink.

Now I have a headache. I feel like I just got Scanned for 90 minutes.

Yes I realize Biden didn't win (although I don't think he lost either) but I've been waiting for somebody to tell Trump to shut up straight to his face. It didn't faze Trump, who probably secretly wishes he would shut up sometimes, but it's the next best thing to watching him get punched in the face.

Watched the debate tonight. I was worried in the beginning. Trump was bulldozing, but over the 90 minutes, Biden wisely didn't take the bait and go tit for tat and play Trump's game. He addressed the issues as much as possible and looked at the camera and kept it focused on the people.

I think people who want to see Trump as strong and the winner tonight were already inclined to do so. But I think a lot of others will begin to see more in what Biden did tonight than may have been apparent on the surface at first. His defense of his sons really laid down the hammer while being heartfelt. When he finally said, "It's not about my family or his family, it's about *your* family. It's about *you*," that was it right there. He was about *us* and you felt it.

Also, Chris Wallace was a dud moderator. That gotcha question about Biden contacting Portland's mayor? What the fuck? Biden answered perfectly. In the next debate, they're gonna have to cut the mics off. Biden will be able to adapt, Trump won't, but oh well...
