Comey compares Trump to mob boss
https://www.axios.com/preview-of-exclus ... 0cfef.html
A source present at the taping says James Comey's interview with ABC's George Stephanopoulos, airing Sunday at 10 p.m. as a "20/20" special, is "going to shock the president and his team."
The source said Comey's comments, in his first interview since being fired by President Trump last May, will generate headlines and "certainly add more meat to the charges swirling around Trump."
In an ABC promo, Stephanopoulos says Comey compared Trump to a mob boss.
According to the source:
The Comey interview left people in the room stunned — he told George things that he’s never said before.
Some described the experience as surreal. The question will be how to fit it all into a one-hour show.
Comey answered every question.
If anyone wonders if Comey will go there, he goes there.

Robert Mueller’s Nuclear Option
https://newrepublic.com/article/147937/ ... ear-option
If Trump fires the special counsel or substantively hamstrings his ability to pursue the Russia investigation to whatever end, Mueller won’t be able to fulfill that responsibility to the truth. Fortunately, the former FBI director has an option of last resort: releasing everything he’s discovered to the American public, in one way or another.
This drastic step would not be necessary in a healthier republic. The best check on presidential abuses is Congress, which has its own inherent powers to conduct investigations, subpoena witnesses and documents, and even hold executive-branch officials in contempt or remove them from office. In theory, this would be the best place to which Mueller could turn to ensure his investigation’s findings wouldn’t be buried by the Trump administration and its more pliable officials.

If Ryan thinks he's going to redeem himself for some later political reentry, let's hope people stand firm and don't allow that to happen. I know people have alarmingly short memories these days, but still... Yes, many have welcomed George W. back with open arms during this current political cycle, and, yes, thankfully some did find that rather distasteful. He may have been an idiot and a puppet of Rove's and Cheney's, but he was aware of some of the murky shit that was going on. Just being Not-Trump should not equal redemption.
And so it goes with Ryan. Hopefully people will make the message abundantly clear for him: "Don't bother thinking about running for president."

Russia has moved at least 11 navy ships deployed in Syria out to sea in the event of a U.S. military strike, which appears to be imminent in the wake of an exchange of threats between President Trump and Russian officials.
The Syrian army also is evacuating military bases and transferring aircraft to bases with strong Russian support.

Okay, so maybe a few hundred thousand innocent more will die or have to flee to countries that aren't attacking their home - since Drumpf certainly won't take them because only idiots do that according to him - but I'm sure this is for a good reason this time. You know, unlike those WMDs and pretty much any pretense to go to war in "third-world shitholes" in the last 50 years. It's different this time. And so will be the outcome. No doubt.

Stormy Daniels is filling strip clubs nearly every weekend on a national tour, but the porn star who says she had a 2006 affair with President Donald Trump is getting only a “negligible” income boost from the nude shows, her attorney says.
Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, will be performing around the corner from the entrance to Trump International Golf Club and only 4 miles from Mar-a-Lago on Friday and Saturday at the Ultra Gentlemen’s Club in unincorporated West Palm Beach.
The president, who has denied Daniels’ claims, is scheduled to arrive in Palm Beach Sunday night to host Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and his wife on Tuesday and Wednesday. According to a Federal Aviation Administration notice, Trump is expected to stay in the area until April 22.
In addition to her weekend stripping gigs, Daniels is reportedly cooperating with federal investigators who on Monday raided the office of Trump’s personal attorney, Michael Cohen. Cohen arranged a $130,000 payment to Daniels just before the 2016 election to keep silent about her alleged affair with Trump. Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One last week that he had no knowledge of the payment.
Local Republican activist Paula Prudente says she believes the president rather than the porn star.
“This is just a very disgusting way to undermine the American people," Prudente said of Daniels’ tour.
The Ultra club is along one of the routes Trump’s motorcade often takes to his golf course. On at least one occasion, in February, the presidential convoy drove past the club’s sign advertising Daniels’ appearances. She is performing two shows each night at Ultra, with tickets ranging from $25 to $1,000 for a 20-person “VIP room” near the stage.
Ultra manager Stacy Saccal said the Daniels shows are nearly sold out and the weekend “by far will be the biggest” in her 11 years managing the club and its predecessor, T’s Lounge. The only comparable event, Saccal said, was the 2013 appearance by Nadya “Octomom” Suleman.
Documents related to that payment were reportedly among the items seized Monday when federal agents raided Cohen’s office.
Daniels signed a Jan. 30 statement denying any affair and adding, “I will have no further comment on this matter,” before appearing that night on Jimmy Kimmel Live and dodging questions about her alleged encounter with Trump at a 2006 celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe.
In March, Daniels filed a lawsuit claiming her 2016 hush agreement was invalid because Trump had not signed it. In a 60 Minutes interview that aired March 25, Daniels said she had sex with Trump and had signed her January denial because she felt coerced.
All the attention has helped draw crowds to her strip club performances.
“We broke a three-day record of guests through the door,” said Deja Vu Showgirls general manager Michael Durham after Daniels appeared at his Nashville club at the end of March. “We’ve been in Nashville 28 years and this was our best week ever.”
Daniels drew a “bigger than normal crowd” last weekend at the Country Rock Cabaret outside St. Louis in Sauget, Ill., said Roy Westerheide, who owns four strip clubs in the area. The crowds for Daniels were a little older and “definitely more liberal” than his usual clientele, said Westerheide, who said Daniels also drew some patrons in hats bearing the Trump campaign’s “Make America Great Again” slogan.
When he booked Daniels in January, Westerheide said, “I didn’t think it would be this big. I was thinking it would kind of go away but I hoped it didn’t.”
Ultra manager Saccal said she booked Daniels shortly after her Kimmel appearance.
“I got really lucky,” Saccal said this week.
Danny Capozzi, who books Daniels’ appearances for New York-based Centerfold Strips Entertainment, wouldn’t discuss Daniels’ fees but said basic economic principles apply to a porn star in the public spotlight.
“Obviously since the news broke her rate has increased, and since that time it has held steady…It’s all about supply and demand. There’s only one Stormy Daniels and demand is at its peak,” said Capozzi.
But the increased attention and earning power has its downside, said Daniels attorney Michael Avenatti.
“The net increase if anything has been negligible because her expenses have skyrocketed. She requires extensive security,” Avenatti told The Palm Beach Post. “There’s only so many shows she can do in any given period of time, so that’s a finite number. While there may be more patrons, again, that security expense has gone through the roof.”

Trump allies to attack ‘Lyin’ Comey’ in campaign tied to book tour
http://thehill.com/homenews/administrat ... -book-tour
Republican allies of President Trump are planning to launch an ad campaign attacking the credibility of former FBI director James Comey in advance of his book tour.
Speculation is high for Comey's book and tour; he is expected to address his unceremonious firing from the bureau by Trump, among other controversial issues from his term as director.
The advertising plan, spearheaded by the Republican National Committee and approved by the White House, will brand the former top law enforcement official "Lyin' Comey" on a new website and in a series of online ads, according to CNN. The phrasing will also be included in talking points sent to Republicans nationwide.
Comey is preparing for a nation-wide publicity tour to follow the release of his memoir.
In response, the Republican plan will provide lawmakers with arguments to counter Comey, including the claim that "attempts to smear the Trump administration are nothing more than retaliation by a disgraced former official," CNN reports.

卐Gingrich compares FBI raid of Trump lawyer to Nazi secret police卐
http://thehill.com/homenews/media/38280 ... ret-police
Former Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) tore into the FBI after its raid of President Trump's personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, likening agents' actions to those of the secret police during the Nazi era.
Gingrich said during an interview on Fox News that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein has "not done his job" and has not supervised special counsel Robert Mueller.
"This whole thing is an absurdity. We've now had Paul Manafort and his wife in their pajamas at 3 in the morning having the FBI break down the door," he said on Wednesday, referring to an FBI raid last year at the home of Trump's former campaign manager.
"Cohen, the lawyer, had the door taken off of the hinges at 6 in the morning."
He also tore into the Justice Department and said the country is supposed to have the "rule of law."
"It ain't the rule of law when they kick in your door at 3 in the morning and you're faced with armed men. And you have had no reason to be told you're going to have that kind of treatment," he continued.
"That's Stalin. That's the Gestapo in Germany. That shouldn't be the American FBI."
The FBI earlier this week raided the office of Cohen and seized emails, tax documents and records related to his payment to adult-film star Stormy Daniels.
Cohen's lawyer, Stephen Ryan, said in a statement earlier this week that federal prosecutors in Manhattan obtained a search warrant after receiving a referral "in part" from special counsel Robert Mueller. Ryan called the search “completely inappropriate and unnecessary.”
Trump was reportedly enraged after the raid.
A report earlier this week said the president is considering firing Rosenstein.
Officials told CNN that Rosenstein, the No. 2 Justice Department official who reportedly personally approved the FBI raid, is Trump's most likely target.
Under DOJ regulations, Rosenstein is the only person with the power to fire Mueller, if he has cause to do so, since Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself last year.
President Trump on Thursday pushed back against a New York Times report that said he tried to fire Mueller in December, calling the story "fake news from a biased newspaper."

Former Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) tore into the FBI after its raid of President Trump's personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, likening agents' actions to those of the secret police during the Nazi era.

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump said Thursday that if he wanted to fire special counsel Robert Mueller, he would have months ago.
"If I wanted to fire Robert Mueller in December, as reported by the Failing New York Times, I would have fired him. Just more Fake News from a biased newspaper," Trump tweeted Thursday morning.
Trump was disputing a New York Times report published Tuesday that said the President sought to fire Mueller in December following reports that Mueller was seeking Trump's financial records. CNN has also reported that Trump has wanted to fire Mueller for months.
Later Thursday afternoon, the President tweeted about the Mueller investigation again, this time saying he "agreed with the historically cooperative, disciplined approach that we have engaged in with Robert Mueller (Unlike the Clintons!)."
"I have full confidence in Ty Cobb, my Special Counsel, and have been fully advised throughout each phase of this process," he continued. The legality of firing Mueller has been a topic of conversation inside the White House since the indictments of former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort and his deputy, Rick Gates, last fall, a source told CNN.
White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said Tuesday that the President "certainly believes he has the power" to fire him.
On Tuesday, CNN also reported that Trump is considering firing Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who oversees the Mueller probe. The news of potential DOJ firings comes following a raid on the office and hotel room of Michael Cohen, the President's personal attorney and confidante. Referred by Mueller to seek a search warrant, authorities sought information that included payments allegedly made to keep women silent about affairs with Trump more than a decade ago.
Some of Trump's legal advisers have told him that their team now has a stronger case in firing Rosenstein because believe he crossed the line in what he can and cannot pursue with the raid, CNN reported Tuesday.
A White House official said earlier this week that Trump and his legal team are re-evaluating whether the President should sit down for an interview with Mueller's team in light of the raid.

James Comey’s memoir: Trump fixates on proving lewd dossier allegations false
https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics ... 22150e821b
The next month, Trump called Comey to complain about the Russia investigation as a “cloud” that was impairing his presidency and, again, brought up the Moscow prostitutes allegation.
“For about the fourth time, he argued that the golden showers thing wasn’t true, asking yet again, ‘Can you imagine me, hookers?’” Comey writes of their March 30, 2017, call. “In an apparent play for my sympathy, he added that he has a beautiful wife and the whole thing has been very painful for her. He asked what we could do to ‘lift the cloud.’”

Re: Dump Shithole
His descriptions about Trump are priceless. It's too bad Comey's legacy is going to be a complicated one. But he's never going to live the pre-election Hillary situation down.Turner Coates wrote:James Comey’s memoir: Trump fixates on proving lewd dossier allegations false
