Made a GREAT hot dog today
Toasted the bun and cooked the hot dog in an air fryer. Cooked the hell out of the dog. Put a ton of jarred cheese whiz on the bun. Added dog, ketchup, mustard, Texas Pete.
Fucking great!
Gonna make another!

Re: Made a GREAT hot dog today
Three things make a hot dog great. Start with a good quality grilled wiener, no boiled or steamed shit, add cheese, add chili. Perfect. If you're really fancy add some diced onion and spicy mustard...

I have a hot dog toaster, which looks like a toaster, but the slots are for the hot dogs and buns. Cooks them perfectly.

Re: Made a GREAT hot dog today
I love hot dogs! I really don't eat them that often, but I love them in almost any incarnation.
How I eat them depends on the environment.
If I cook them at home, it's sometimes with chili, cheese and onions. Sometimes with just mustard and ketchup. But I always score them and cook them on the comal. I guess in English you call that a griddle. It's a flat cast iron thing that I've had for 30 years.
When I was a kid, a friends mom used to take us to the beach. She'd microwave the hotdogs, put them in the buns and then put them back in the bun bag. They were still warm after our beach swim, and they were awesome.
I did this when my kids were young. Everybody loved them!
This takes us to bacon wrapped hot dogs. SO GOOD!!!!
We have them around the corner, but mostly, we get them after a show.

I've never thought of that. That's a great idea. Perfect textured surface for hot dogs.

Their smoked apple and sage sausages are incredible. I'd take those over any regular sausage/hot dog any day.

There's good reasons the folks in these parts have been growing and eating it for over 400 years.

A friend of mine from New Mexico who moved to Austin used to fill a suitcase with raw chiles whenever he visited home during harvest season.Mojo wrote: ↑Mon Jul 10, 2023 12:41 pmI've probably got ten cans of Hatch in the pantry right now. He took them to a flea market in Austin and sold it for 10 bucks a baggie. He made hundreds of dollars every time he did it.
The "green" in Tex Mex cooking usually means tomatillos.
