Rap albums you have purchased

In my younger days, I was a rocker for real. I was so focused Rock and Metal that I didn't pay attention to other genres as much. These days I'm starting to appreciate Hip-Hop even though I didn't partake in the culture growing up. What rap albums have you liked enough to spend money on?

Honestly?

I think maybe only this one, and yes, that is sort of embarrassing to admit. Even if all the other songs besides the "hit" were funny as well.

Does "Devil Without a Cause" count?

You prefer rap in novelty acts? Did you like 2 Live Crew as well?

I bought The Marshall Mathers LP when I was a kid. I'm pretty sure that's the only one I've ever bought.

Beastie boys - licensed to ill.

It has aged terribly. And now I know the best bits of the album are actually samples from better songs!

I remember getting the Eazy E solo album and both of the NWA albums.

I loved just hearing the language. It reminded me of a Richard Pryor skit just with a bit of music on top.

I have some rap on my phone (Snoop, Eminem), but I think the only rap record I ever purchased back in the 80s was the extended version of Rapper's Delight by Sugarhill Gang.

Too many to list. Around 1992 when everyone seemed to be switching over to Grunge I started listening to a lot of Hip Hop that was coming out. I don't care for much of the newer stuff, but I still dig that early 90's stuff.

Damn, forgot about that one!

My memory is a bit foggy as I lost most, if not all, of my vinyl in Katrina. But I do remember buying Licensed to Ill.

If RATM counts, all four of their albums. If not, then zero. I do appreciate some of the old-school stuff tho

Straight Outta Compton and Eazy E's first album. Kinda liked Compton, was pretty disappointed in Eazy E solo. Probably the most overrated guy ever. And he didn't even write his own stuff, as far as I could tell. Real Muthafukkin' G's was really great but that was ghostwriten too.

Yeah. He had to practice over and over to get his timing right and get punched in and out. Unique delivery though.
