Mother!
Second viewing on Pluto last night.
Love Darren Aronofsky, but this was even a bit too fucked up for me.
That movie is like watching a nightmare on film. It just keeps getting more out of control and uncomfortable.
I don't like horror films so won't ever see many on this list but I did watch Mother, because based purely on the cast list I wasn't expecting what it turned into. I can't say I
enjoyed it but it was definitely thought-provoking. I preferred 'Pi' though, which is hardly straightforward either.
I know that the director clearly has a message, but why be so over the top and pretentious about the whole thing? He must have gotten loads of money from the studios, since Black Swan was such a huge hit.
And Jennifer must have thought she was going to win some major awards for appearing in it, as most of his actors do win some major awards.
Actually enjoyed the film when I first saw it years ago in a theater. Definitely one of those movies that swallows you up when seen on the big screen.
But anyway . . . back to the subject at hand:
What could be freakier than a Showa era Godzilla movie? Nothing . . .
