Are you prejudiced against Trump/MAGA people?

I am admittedly a little prejudiced against Trumpies. It's not anything I'm proud of, but it is what it is.

Actually, most of the MAGAts here are alright, I just like to wind them up. It's what we do here! We break balls.

IRL? Yeah, if I see MAGA or Trump gear, I assume the person is probably uneducated. Definitely some priors--domestic violence, DUI's, usually a sex offense in there. If they share "legalize ped0 hunting" memes on FB, there's probably a sex offense in there.

I kinda feel sorry for them, to fail so hard they felt they had to go that route, but not so much I'd ever allow one in my house. MAGAloids love to fuck up a get-together. Starting fights, saying racist shit, fucking with anyone they consider "woke," stealing pills from the medicine cabinet--just a hassle we don't need.

Trump voters? No. That's the democratic process.

Those who made it their identity? Yes, but it must suck that is all they have to hold on to.

I'm prejudiced against stupid people. I don't mean book learning / school achievements as I work with tradesmen, some of whom can barely read but they can do things with their hands that I never could. But I do include people who believe wholeheartedly in populist politicians who promise simple solutions to complex problems, that have zero chance of success and the politician themselves has no actual interest in or effective way to do them anyway.

Ross Perot = Kame

Girl VP should be president
Girl VP = Rhea Ripley

I don’t waste time with politics- I’ll just do what Caitlin Clark does- I trust her

No. Christ, I've lived in both Florida and Ohio (Flordia North). Before 2016, they kept to themselves most of the time.

No. It wasn’t news to anyone. Literally no one was blindsided by the MAGAloid trend.

But if you’d like a “Grape Job!” sticker for knowing what is absolutely common knowledge, we can find one.

I grew up in Iowa. For perspective, I grew up an hour from where Tym lives. So that should paint a picture.

Used to see these guys get arrested for beating their wives, now they get arrested with red hats on. Only difference.

Is there still a ton of meth in Iowa?

Yup. Southern Ohio (I live in Columbus) might as well be Appalachia. Ohio River meth/fent hub of activity. Some backwoods, rednecks down in them parts. I was just a kid in Florida, so I didn't know better. Plus, we lived on the Gulf Coast, so beaches and sunshine. Not that bad. I've always hated Ohio, but family has always been the magnet. After retirement, we're probably gone. To where IDK.

It's a tough tightrope to walk in the deep south. You really have to compartmentalize politics or risk not having any friends. Risk estranging family.

But it's not really foreign territory. Down here you also had to keep it to yourself if you preferred punk rock over Lynyrd Skynyrd BITD. Saw a kid get the shit kicked out of him for wearing a B-52s t-shirt to school back in my teenage years.

If somebody corners me on it, I'll let them know. But you mostly try to avoid the subject if possible.

Deep south here, and I, too, would risk losing friends and a few select family members if I dared to criticize their beloved Trumpy or other MAGA politicians. Plus, most of the ones I know are otherwise good people, even if they are stubbornly loyal to the GOP and its MAGA movement. As I've said countless times on here, a lot of it boils down to good ol' fashioned blue collar rural white fundamentalist Christian Nationalism, of which the MAGA movement plays a huge part these days.

Yes, yes I am!
I don't know if prejudice is the word we're looking for here, but I most certainly hold them in contempt.
And as it happens, I have no republican "friends" anymore.
Between 2016 and 2020 they all weeded themselves out.
Mostly what I understood about some lifelong friends, is that they were racist, and some of them stupid too. A few others were just greedy & selfish.
All trump supporters are some combination of those characteristics.
I did not "delete or cancel" any of them, they canceled me. I'm cool with that. I don't need these types of friends.

I am from the ones who wear the hats, fly the flags, etc..., because of past experiences that I have had with a few. Racist, loudmouth, opinionated, and entitled come to mind.

Anyone who supports Trump is suspending reality and replacing it with lies.
I don't like people who lie to THEMSELVES. It causes major bullshit.

Here’s the thing—people go on about “We used to be able to remain friends in spite of political differences.” Okay, maybe. But that’s not how it is now. It’s ludicrous to suggest that were it not for my Trump Derangement, me and Kevin Sorbo would be on the same page with everything else.

This back-in-the-day civility also didn’t factor in the obsession with “wokeness.” Can’t sit down and watch a football game—too woke. Okay, a movie then? Nope. Movies are woke.

Let’s go see Guns N’ Roses—nope, Axl is woke now. The beer in my fridge is woke. The dog got up from a nap, now the dog is woke.

Life is too short. God bless your journey against wokeness and the freedom it has given you to… not enjoy anything anymore.

My family are all from South Carolina. I used to think like most people from around here, but that was when I was a little kid. I grew up on different military bases across the country and those experiences and people made me think for myself through those years. So while I do understand their condition, what I can't understand is suspending laws and freedom because only you know the right way for people to live. It's traitorous, plain and simple.

The funny thing about it is, you ask them what they are if not "woke". Comatose?

My wife always says if "woke" means I'm not interested in oppressing minorities, I don't want to re-establish Jim Crow era policies, I don't look the other way on sexual harassment, I don't think it's a great idea for everybody in the country to be packing a gun, etc, etc, ... then I'm all for wokeness.

The reality, when light is shed, is that the term "woke" was taken up by the black community and because of that, it is rejected out of hand, regardless of the core meaning.

I noticed the last Blues Festival we had here in my town was overwhelmingly attended by white people. I wondered aloud if many of them in this Trumpy-dominated area knew that the term "woke" comes directly from a Leadbelly song dating back to the 30s? A blues song where "staying woke" simply meant that black folks should be careful and vigilant in the midst of racist white people, obviously more of a self-preservation notion than any kind of anti-white power grab.

Yes, I am. I have never liked Trump, and always thought he was a shysty MF. I never thought in a million years anyone would be stupid enough to vote for him. Sadly, I was horribly mistaken. Most Trumpies are racist, uneducated morons who think it’s ok to say and do what they want, no matter who they might hurt. It’s disgusting and a real testament to the state of this country that it’s ok for a convicted felon is leading the polls.

I think it was you who who posted back then that you heard a friend, who you previously thought was a good person, refer to Obama as "the n_____ in the White House". That line has stuck with me ever since (whoever's it was). And it turned out there were a lot more people like that, and now they vote for Trump because he gives them 'the right to free speech'.

Thank you for posting. I'm fascinated with etymology in general, so always interested in learning things like this. Of course words can change meanings, or at least lose them, drastically but organically, but the right has a record of hijacking "left" words to use against them. "Waaahh! It's not fair. I'm so oppressed by 'woke' cos I'm not allowed to call the ex-president a n_____"".

They're losers without personalities of their own. Trump gave them their personalities, something finally notable and interesting about them. Before Trump, they were just racists whose kids stopped speaking to them.

The insurrection was just as much about that as anything. If Trump goes away, that all goes away too. If they weren't dogshit human beings, you'd feel compassion for them and their need to just be noticed.

That's why they just repeat everything Trump says. It's easy to say they're brainwashed or whatever but there was never anything to wash. They NEVER had ideas of their own. So many times: "I never voted before Trump." Yeah, because they don't give a shit about anything. You're telling me Cathy with the buck teeth and the 45-47 hat actually had thoughts about tariffs before Trump? Ask them a question that forces critical thinking out of them and they go blank.

Trump's sticking around but nothing's forever and they're trying to keep summer camp going before going back to the NFL or screaming at Target cashiers.
