US meteorologists face death threats as hurricane conspiracies surge

Meteorologists tracking the advance of Hurricane Milton have been targeted by a deluge of conspiracy theories that they were controlling the weather, abuse and even death threats, amid what they say is an unprecedented surge in misinformation as two major hurricanes have hit the US.

A series of falsehoods and threats have swirled in the two weeks since Hurricane Helene tore through six states causing several hundred deaths, followed by Milton crashing into Florida on Wednesday.

The extent of the misinformation, which has been stoked by Donald Trump and his followers, has been such that it has stymied the ability to help hurricane-hit communities, according to the head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (Fema).

Katie Nickolaou, a Michigan-based meteorologist, said that she and her colleagues have borne the brunt of much of these conspiracies, having received messages claiming there are category 6 hurricanes (there aren’t), that meteorologists or the government are creating and directing hurricanes (they aren’t) and even that scientists should be killed and radar equipment be demolished.

This is kinda the flat earth stuff, only even a bit more insane. I think there are a few people as a joke, just started the whole flat earth thing. Just to fuck with people, and convinced others its really true.

Same goes with the weather. Its like a few saw a story on The Onion, and thought, well fuck, its on the internet, so it must be true. Kinda like the whole abortion is legal up to two months after the baby is born.

A few started the story as a joke, and some did not get the point its a story from a web site like the onion, and ran with it.

Common Sense died a very long time ago, and seems like the human race is de evolving. For me personally, its everyone standing around shocked about mass shootings. Well, the human race pretty much killed the idea of God. So there is no heaven and there is no hell. When we die, there is nothing. So when you get sick of life, feel free to go out like a Asshole, you have no worries of repercussions after death. Of course some will say, Killing God had nothing to do with how shitty people have become, cause why take responsibility for killing God. That just makes to much sense. We cant have that now can we.

Is there a website where I can submit my weather requests? I'd like about six months of pleasant spring/summer with low humidity and mid-to-upper 70s to be followed by six months of crisp fall weather. I would appreciate hues of orange, red, yellow, and brown on the foliage. Thank you.
