What do you think of The Penguin? Kind of amazing, right?

I watched Ep 1 and plan to watch the series. I dig it. I think Colin Farrell is great in the role. From that first episode, it feels like Gotham Sopranos. I am a fan of The Batman's noir nature, which shows that you can have a compelling story or show without relying on "superhero action." It's basic, it's dark, and it is not too goofy. I know a lot of DC and Marvel fans love the comedic zingers of the normal movies and shows. I don't.

There is this amazing technology called "streaming." The really neato thing about it is I can watch things whenever I want. Can you imagine? Any moment on the clock.

Its for sure on my list of what I want to watch. Show series, like a book series, is something I just wont start til the series is over, same with books, I wont start a book series til the entire series is out. Just a thing with me.

I have had to adjust my viewing for this show. I have a dog with severe anxiety and an irrational fear of car noises. This show has more engines, brakes, squeals than a Fast and Furious movie. She paces and gets crazy face the entire episode. Only on Ep3 so far.

My favorite Batman comic is The Long Halloween. It is Batman vs. the Mob with a serial killer mixed in. It's my favorite because Batman is being the Detective. The Penguin is clearly influenced by this series and feels like it's a perfect companion piece to a fucking great storyline. Farrell is crushing this role but he is also surrounded by a great cast. So, yeah... show is the TITS!

This. Farrell seems to have based his role on Tony Soprano, which I love. Doesn't feel like a superhero show at all, maybe because Batman isn't in it. I dig it!

This series is excellent. The Joker movie writers could have learned from this on how to do it the right way.

He's a rich guy who's hobby is dressing in an animal costume and beating poor and mentally ill people under cover of darkness.

Even The Batman was a detective movie rather than a superhero movie. Much more grounded in what COULD BE reality. The Riddler was based on the Zodiac killer and was a crazed terrorist. For me, the best part of that movie and The Penguin series is that there are no fucking zingers/one-liners. Marvel became kid's stuff. DC is just a mess, though I did like Affleck. I'd go for these noir types over the alternative all day.
